Spirit Airlines added eight new and resuming routes from American Airlines’ Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) hub and Delta’s Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW) hub. These are the latest schedule updates to arrive for summer.

Dallas

Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW)

Five of the routes being added at American’s largest hub have been served without competition for years. Kansas City International Airport (MCI) is resuming for the first time since 2015. The rest are new. Routes include:

  • John Glenn Columbus International Airport (CMH) (4x weekly; starts on July 10th)
  • Kansas City International Airport (MCI) (4x weekly; starts on July 10th)
  • Memphis International Airport (MEM) (3x weekly; starts on July 11th)
  • Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport (MKE) (3x weekly; starts on July 11th)
  • San Antonio International Airport (SAT) (2x daily; starts on July 10th)

Detroit

Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW)

Spirit will also add three routes from Delta’s Michigan hub. Kansas City International Airport (MCI) is resuming for the first time since 2021. The other two are new. Routes include:

  • Charleston International Airport (CHS) (4x weekly; starts on July 10th)
  • Kansas City International Airport (MCI) (3x weekly; starts on July 11th)
  • Nashville International Airport (BNA) (daily; starts on July 10th)

Spirit operates a base at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) and has been working to build its presence at Kansas City International Airport (MCI) as JetBlue has continued to retreat there. In early April, I wrote about new service from there to both Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) and Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR).

Anthony’s Take: People are often surprised, but I quite enjoy flying Spirit. The BIG FRONT SEATS are nice and I find the crews really friendly. Plus, many of my flights have arrived early.
