Just an FYI, there’s a different version of this for non-elite fliers, wherein only during Thanksgiving do you receive double redeemable miles.

  • Sil said,

I have no status. On said promotion date, I will be flying on a paid one way domestic ticket on AA. I also will be flying on the Israel mistake fare with El Al on American Airlines from JFK to Zurich. Will I receive double miles in my AA acount? Is this the same as redeemable miles? Hopefully I will receive an answer as I have asked this question 4 times and have not received a response from any blogger.

@ Miles – You’re right, I was in a meeting yesterday when the promotional email arrived from AA, I’m afraid that I was in such a rush to get it posted that I overlooked the fact the Thanksgiving promo.

For those that haven’t read about it, here’s a Double Redeemable Miles offer for everyone, even those without status:

    Double Miles for Thanksgiving Travel

As an added bonus, you’ll earn double miles every time you fly on American Airlines, American Eagle or the American Connection carrier from November 16, 2012, through November 26, 2012. It’s our way of saying “thank you” for flying with us!

Participating Airlines: American Airlines, American Eagle and the American Connection carrier

    Award: Double Miles

Offer: Earn Double Miles for Thanksgiving Travel

    Promotion Code: AATHX

According to the terms and conditions, this Thanksgiving promo can’t be “stacked”. or combined with the elite offe – so no triple miles for those with status.

    Complete details here.

    Thanks Miles for mentioning it!

@ Sil – Even though you don’t have status, you will still earn Double Elite Qualifying MIles on your paid, one way domestic AA ticket. If your one way domestic AA flight occurs between November 16, 2012, through November 26, 2012, you’ll also earn Double Redeemable AAdvantage Miles (that’s due to the Thanksgiving promo – see “Double Miles for Thanksgiving Travel!” on this page).

Your El Al flight won’t earn double elite or double redeemable miles – according to the terms and conditions for both the Thanksgiving and the Elite Status offers, the offer applies only to travel on American Airlines/American Eagle marketed AND operated flights (so codeshares don’t count, it has to have an AA flight number and be an AA aircraft).

Even without the 2X miles, you still managed to score one of the best deals ever! Hope you have fun on your trip!
