Here’s a look at the schedule:

AA 206 – Miami to Milan

Departs MIA at 5:55 p.m. ET
Arrives at MXP at 9:35 a.m. CET the following day

AA 207 – Milan to Miami

Departs MXP at 11:25 a.m. CET
Arrives at MIA at 4:40 p.m. ET

This will be one well dressed flight!

    1. @ ABC – I suspect that they’re adding the route to feed traffic to South America and to prepare for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

  1. Lots of Italians go to Miami and I believe AZ flies just to Rome from MIA. Too bad AA is still using those old 767s. Why do US airlines keep these planes for so long?

757 and 767 should be retired!

  2. Probably a seasonal route. They are missing a connection to Cuba (from Mia). Probably the most popular Italian tourist destination in the Caribbean.

    1. @ jason – As American takes delivery of the A321NEO (they have 130 on order), I suspect we’ll see fewer and fewer 757s in use.

The 767 is a unique plane in its capacity, range, and markets served, that why so many airlines are still using them. As to what should replace the 763, that’s the subject of much debate. Perhaps as American takes delivery of their first 787s and receives more of the 777-300ERs that they have on order, we’ll see 777-200s and 787s replace the 767-300.

@ Ninmurai – I’d love to see them add service to AMS. I just returned from there and it would be nice to be able to bypass LHR!

@ ABC – I have some friends in Canada that vacation in Cuba every year. Not sure when the embargo will end, but Miami – Cuba will be a heavily traveled route some day…

@ Traveller – It’s a chaotic airport, no wonder it’s the subject of a reality TV show! 🙂

  3. I flew through MiA this month. What an unpleasant airport. Greencard holders are in with visitors not nationals. If miss connect – AA is outside of security so have go through security again. Bags not making connections. The place was quiet but took forever to get through. I will not be goin that way again.

  4. @abc : they already serve enough ow hubs from MIA …. what they need is actual expansion.

MIAMXP is the right step. But something like DFWHKG would be hub connecting for the sake of it.
