For those of you in town (Hong Kong) next week for Light Up the Sky, a last-minute “mini-DO” is starting to materialize for Cathay Pacific DMs and VIPs.
Light Up the Sky is Tuesday evening, so first we are compiling who will be in Hong Kong for the new product unveiling and reception to coordinate meetups between FlyerTalkers, and second, we are looking to put together a “mini-DO” (thanks to Guy Betsy).
This is still a developing story, but if you’d like to meet other DMs or VIPs, make sure to chime in on the FlyerTalk Thread. Remember, you can use your Facebook account with FlyerTalk now, so it’s easier than ever to interact with other frequent flyers!
Yours truly will be there and looking forward to meeting everyone and taking lots of pictures for all the folks at home!

Ever strike up a conversation on a flight with someone, only to realize that the both of you aren’t just frequent travelers, but actually obsessed with miles and points? From discussions on the secrets of upgrading to mysteries mileage maximization to even what special meal to request (psst the Hindu meal ROCKS!), these on the road, impromptu frequent flyer confabs can be just what someone needs in the midst of a long trip for a mental recharge.
So what happens when not just two, but many frequent travelers, all aficionados at some level of miles and points, get together? Enter the “DO,” an organized gathering of like-minded frequent travelers to revel in what they love most, traveling. Rather than trying to explain to an often perplexed relative or co-worker just what a mattress run or a third strike is, immerse yourself amongst people who live to travel.
One upcoming “DO” that may be of particular interest to both Asia-based and overseas mileage nuts alike is the Fall 2011 China DO. Right now, there is a discussion going on at FlyerTalk about when to set the date, but you can count on it being in the late months of next year. The venue has been set to Shanghai, a world-class megacity and place of important history over the past two centuries.
If you are interested, be sure to make your way over to the thread on FlyerTalk and let it be known that you’d like to go. Remember, you can either use your FlyerTalk account (free to register and post) or just use your Facebook account through Facebook Connect to chime in now!
