Below is a compiled list of many of the current Southwest point promotions out there. When calculating Southwest bonus points, 60 Rapid Reward points = $1 on a “Wanna Getaway Fare.” For example, a 1,000 point promotion essentially is giving you $16.67 to use towards future travel.

  1. Between September 15-November 7, earn double points on all travel to/from Baltimore, Denver, or Phoenix. You must register prior to making your reservation. Like almost all Southwest promotions, existing reservations will not earn you the bonus points. If your flight has not gone up in price, it make sense to rebook since there are no change fees with Southwest.
  2. Through September 30, register to win up to one million points with Southwest’s “enRoll to play YAHTZEE” game. Over the course of the game (which you can play every day), Southwest will be giving away over seven million Rapid Reward points. *The “Win Code for Card” line is option, so you can leave this blank.
  3. Earn 300 bonus Rapid Reward points by joining the Rapid Rewards Dining program. Within 60 days of joining, you must register a credit/debit card with the program, visit a participating restaurant, spend at least $25, and complete a review of the dining experience within 30 days. This is in addition to the 3 points/$1 you will earn.
  4. Through October 31, 2011 earn up to 12,000 Southwest Rapid Reward points with Marriott gift card purchases. You must register prior to purchasing any gift cards. Blog Post
  5. Through December 15, earn 1,000 Rapid Reward points per stay at Sheraton, Four Points, Aloft, and Element Hotels in North America. Must register by October 15, 2011. Blog Post
  6. Receive 500 Rapid Reward points for signing up for Southwest Airline emails. You must stay subscribed for three months. Million Mile Secrets Blog Post
  7. Earn 1,000 Rapid Reward points for watching a 2 minute video on how to use the new Southwest Rapid Rewards program. This promotion is only valid for those with the Southwest Rapid Rewards Chase Card and might be a targeted offer. Blog Post
  8. Between October 1, 2011 and January 15, 2012, earn 1,800 Rapid Reward points with every Hyatt stay. This is INSTEAD of receiving Hyatt points. You must register, and provide your Rapid Reward account number upon check-in or call Hyatt (1-88-30-HYATT), and have them change your account to earning miles. The maximum number of points you can earn during this promotion is 18,000 (10 nights).

If you know of any other promotions out there, please let me know and I will add them to the list!

@Steve – Thanks! Just updated. This was already on my list of needing its own blog post. Stay tuned this week to more details and a comparison of earning the miles vs. hyatt points with the current stay 3, earn 5K points promotion. NOTE: The Southwest promotion can be stacked with the current Fall promotion where you will earn 5K points with every 3 nights (up to 30K hyatt points).

The 1800 SWA promo and the Stay 3, Earn 5k pts promos are stackable, no need to choose one or the other.

@Greg – you are absolutely correct, you can still earn the 5K points after every 3 nights, but you will not earn your typical hyatt points.. I actually love that about southwest were you can stack – was able to do this last year with a Southwest promo and Hyatt promo and earn a Southwest companion pass at the same time!

The stay 3, earn 5k Hyatt points shouldn’t be affected by the Southwest promo. Without having read your own analysis, I suspect that cheap one-night stays could be posted to Southwest, while more expensive or multi-night stays would earn points. Either way, for every three nights, you should still get the 5k bonus points from Hyatt.

Personally, I still need a few Southwest points to top off my account from the former RR 1.0 program for one last free round-trip. In that case, my own personal benefit analysis may take into account that my 1,800 SW points are worth a little “extra.”

@Steve – that is correct. I also have points from RR 1.0 that need to be topped off. A full post will be coming this week.
