Post #11 compliments of Mr. Deals…

So it’s been just over a year since Mrs. Deals started this blog. For Mr. Deals that has meant a year of constant questions on how things look, editing posts, digging up pictures from trips and late nights of talks about deals that may go in one ear and out the other (sorry honey). But let’s be honest here, this guy wouldn’t have gotten so excited about Amtrak status if it wasn’t for Mrs. Deals. So some of this stuff is clearly resonating and probably a lot more than she thinks.
The beauty of this blog is that it has turned me into a bit of a celebrity around the office when it comes to points/miles. Actually, it’s more like I am the husband of a celebrity. I mean, everyone is talking about hotel points and airline miles now. Three years ago when I started there, nobody even had a Starwood card. Now they all have them. I may have to do a poll in the office and see how many people use the Starwood card. Just this week, the co-founder of my company thanked me for all of the advice because now his honeymoon is entirely booked on points, including 5 free nights at the Hyatt Maldives just for opening a few credit cards! I actually didn’t do anything except introduce him to Mrs. Deals but it’s cool, I will take the credit.
The scary thing is now when we all go out to lunch and throw in a credit card, everyone is analyzing the reward programs the others are using. Usually I have a few good things to say, but one co-worker is always telling the newbies that they gotta meet Mrs. Deals, it will change their life.
So to my co-workers reading this, I will get you her autograph when she gets back from this VIP extravaganza called the MegoDO. I’m not going to lie, that wasn’t easy to explain to any of them. In fact I am still confused about it…
