Today’s Daily Getaway promotion (Wednesday, May 2)  is a repeat of last weeks where you can purchase Hilton HHonor points at a highly reduced price. The value of this offer really depends on the person and your future travel plans. There are three offers in total, but each of them will cost you $0.00495/point when using your American Express card (or $0.0055/point without an Amex).

Like every other Daily Getaway promotion, this offer goes on sale at 1pm EST share and availability is extremely limited.

Details:

Did any of you purchase these points last week? If so, where will you be using them? Make sure before purchasing the points that the hotel you are looking at has higher rates then what I am listing below. You will essentially be paying the following for a free night at each category (note that all prices take into consideration using an Amex card for the purchase to receive the 10% off discount).

  • Category 1 = 7,500 points – $37.13
  • Category 2 = 12,500 points – $61.88
  • Category 3 = 25,000 points - $123.75
  • Category 4 = 30,000 points – 148.50
  • Category 5 = 35,000 points – $173.25
  • Category 6 = 40,000 points – $198.00
  • Category 7 = 50,000 points – $247.50
  • Waldorf Astoria 50,000-60,000 points – $247.50-$297.00

Just keep in mind that this analysis does not take into consideration point saver or VIP discounts, which could decrease the amount of points needed for each free night stay. Also, when redeeming points for a free night you do not have to pay any taxes, which can be pretty high in some cities, i.e., Paris. You still will have to pay applicable resort fees. The other good thing is that you will earn nights/stays toward status when redeeming points for a free night.

As I mentioned last week, from a practical standpoint, all category 1 hotels will be worth it – trying to find a hotel that is less than $40/night is probably near impossible. Category 2 hotels will most likely be a good value as ell. Category 4 and 5 hotels will really depend on where you are staying. Category 6, 7, and Waldorf Astoria hotels could provide you some great value, but again will depend on your redemption – a stay in the Maldives or in Europe could absolutely provide some value, while a stay in Boston might not make sense.

Similar to last week, I will be sitting out on this promotion since I have no Hilton stays in the near future and I’d hate to purchase points, that may or may not be worth it, with no redemption in mind. Maybe I can convince Mr. Deals to go to the Maldives… this would absolutely be worth it then!

Will anyone be jumping on this offer?

Great value when used wisely! As a HHonors diamond used the AXON7 (145,000) for 4 nights in the Venice Molino. We were upgraded to a suite and access to the lounge.
    > $1,200 a night value!!
