Although blogger MommyPoints was trying to get me to go to the Olympics with her, I just couldn’t swing it. It absolutely would have been a cool opportunity, especially when economy class tickets were only like $800! While I am bummed about not going, I am excited to hear about a friends experience. Have fun Mommy Points!

Now with that said, I received an email from a PR company highlighting some hotels around the US that will be celebrating the 2012 Olympics for those guests not able to cross the pond this summer to enjoy the action. Typically I do not post these PR emails as they highlight one random hotel that does not really fit the majority of my readers as well. However, this one was Olympics related and I thought it was pretty funny, so I have decided to post it.

The following hotels will be offering these special incentives for all guests during the Olympics:

Affinia Hotels

With a nod to the movement to make yoga an Olympic sport, Affinia Hotels is offering yoga as a check-in sport with the Affinia Yoga Check-In Challenge. Guests can flex their yoga skills at check-in during the Olympics (Thursday, July 27- Sunday, August 12) by completing one, two or three levels of poses for the chance to win goodies including cupcakes, wine and up to $25 in MyAffinia credits, for use on in-room amenities such Ibanez guitars, golf putters and more.  Limited to one MyAffinia credit per room, per stay.  The poses are:

  • Tree Pose (degree of difficulty: easy): bronze (cupcake)
  • Downward Facing Dog (degree of difficulty: medium):  silver (wine bottle)
  • Head-to-Knee (degree of difficulty: hard): gold ($25 MyAffinia credit)

Additionally, the front-desk staff will snap pictures of guests who complete the Head-to-Knee and wish to compete in the online version of the challenge.  The picture will be posted on Affinia Hotels’ Facebook Timeline (www.facebook.com/affiniahotels) and the community will vote to decide the winner of the all-around “gold medal.” The winner will receive a complimentary three-night stay at the Affinia Hotel of their choice.   Nightly rates in July and August start at $159 at The Liaison Capitol Hill, an Affinia Hotel in Washington, D.C. and $179 in NYC.  For information and to book, visit www.affinia.com or call 866-246-2203.
