Welcome to another post of helping a reader travel! As I’ve mentioned before, I have not been to every destination (unfortunately), but do get questions from friends and other blog readers on all sort of travel destination questions. Thus far, we’ve been able to help other readers travel to MauiThe Greek IslandsThe Pacific Coast HighwayArgentinaCosta RicaCape Cod & The Islands, and Iceland.

So this weeks travel destination includes Geneva. I received the following email from reader Susan:

“My husband has a conference in Geneva and I decided to join him for the week. The conference is taking place at the Starwood property so we are set for a hotel, but now need to look into flights. We are flying from New York, but are open to flying elsewhere in seeing another city first and then taking the train to Geneva. Any suggestions on where else we can fly into to spend a few days? Also, once we are in Geneva, any suggestions on things to do and see? Thank you so much!”

This sounds like a great trip and a nice hotel to stay at on the companies dime! Mr. Deals actually flew into Geneva for a work trip, but unfortunately was not able to spend any time in the city. Upon arrival, he immediately took the train to a small village called Montreux, which he said was absolutely beautiful! He also said that the trains through Switzerland are by far the best way to go. The country side is amazing!

If you’ve been to Geneva or surrounding cities, let’s help out reader Susan by commenting below. Also, if you have any upcoming travel where you need some help, feel free to email me at dealswelike@gmail.com to be a featured “Help a Reader Travel” Monday special. Thanks!

The Red Cross headquaters and museum is in Geneva. There is an informative historical walking tour of the Reformation, if you are into Church history. If you are getting multi day train ticket(Swiss Pass), you can use the Lake Geneva ferry system too. Morges is a quaint town on the lake and Lausanne has the Official Olympic museum. Also, across the lake from Lausanne, on the French side, is Evian-Les- Bains. Another nice, smaller town and the home of Evian water, natural springs there. Enjoy your trip!

Haha, love the part with “small village called Montreux”!

I don’t care for that particular genre, but the Montreux Jazz Festival has put them on the map…

I hear it’s a fantastic little town, about 60 miles from Geneva. Also Lausanne is supposed to be great if Susan and her husband have time to get out.

The Swiss are very proud of their nature & countryside.

You can fly non-stop from JFK to GVA on Delta or Swiss or EWR to GVA on United. Other than that you can fly to Paris and take a train and be in Geneva in 3 hours. Milan is also only 200 miles from Geneva by car. Not much to do or see in Geneva other than spending time walking around Lake Geneva and looking at all the watches in the beautiful stores. If you rent a car you can reach many beautiful cities in Switzerland or France. You can easily go to Lausanne, Montreaux, Vevey, Evian, Chamonix (France). You should also visit the medieval village of Gruyeres and make sure you sample the cheese foundue and the berries in cream.

Switzerland is not on the Euro. Therefore, it is a very expensive destination, but it’s worth every penny. Try to get over to Zurich, Luzern and Lugano. Also make sure you have some fondue!

I also liked Lausanne, Montreaux, Vevey, and Gruyeres
