Another American Express syncing promotion and this one should pertain to a vast majority of readers in the US. Purchase a $50 gift card with your synced American Express card at over 300 malls and get a $10 statement credit. You can then turn around and use that gift card at any store location within the mall. This promotion runs through September 9, 2012 and enrollment is limited.

For a compiled list of all the shopping malls within each chain, check out this site, but it contains Macerich Shopping Centers, Preit Malls, Premium Outlets, and Simon Malls.

Now, it looks like you can actually get a $10 statement credit when purchasing a $50 mall gift card at each individual shopping center, for a total of $40 for free in statement credits. On Facebook, under the American Express “Link, Like, Love” promotions, I see each of these as individual offers and am able to load each of them to my account separately. They do in fact look like separate offers where you can take advantage of all five!

You can enroll in any of these five offers through Facebook, Twitter, or Foursquare. Via Twitter, I actually only see two of the promotions currently (Macerich Shopping Center is #AmexMacerichMalls and Simon Malls is  #AmexSimonMalls). With this promotion, I personally recommend just enrolling via Facebook as they are all available and the Facebook mode is very easy.

Here are some quick steps if you are not already registered with Facebooks “Link, Like, Love” American Express site:

  1. Launch the application from this link. Follow the directions to install and create an account.
  2. Sync your American Express credit card to your account
  3. Go to the “Link, Like, Love” application on Facebook – this can be found on the left-hand column of your Facebook account (or if you just set up an account you are already in the application).
  4. Find the promotion you are looking for and click “Get Offer” – this will be available for each promotion in the individual box.
  5. Once you add a promotion to your account it will leave the main page – you can see all the promotions you are enrolled in if you click the “On My Card” link on the left-hand side of the page.

Happy gift card buying! Remember to check out all of the other FREE MONEY promotions as well!

  • Dale said,

Yeah saw this too yesterday. Plan on going to my local mall, purchasing one, and using this weekend to take advantage of tax free weekend here in Charlotte for more savings!

  • ORD-TGU said,

So one has to buy the mall branded gift card (at customer service) which can then be used to purchase at any of the mall’s stores?

  • dealswelike said,

    @ORD-TGU – That is correct!

  • Christina said,

Do you have to go to the mall and buy the gift card at CS or can you do it through the mall’s website? The Shops at Northbridge’s website allows you to buy Amex giftcards online.

  • dealswelike said,

@Christina – I have not yet tried it, but the terms state: ” gift cards purchased in mall at guest services, concierge, customer service or info desk. If none present, may buy in mall management office.” – so it specifies in store, but you never know. Many of these Amex syncing promos have allowed online purchases to go through.

  • Dale said,

Just bought gift card here in Charlotte. Was charged $2.95 activation fee since it’s an AMEX card. (I did buy a copy of shirts and no sales tax since it was tax free weekend so it kind of balanced itself out for me.) I did notice a gift card stand with other merchants and wondered if I bought a $50 iTunes card, if it would be charged to Simon Malls. My guess is yes, but didn’t try it.

Will probably try that once I get my wife’s AMEX card and use it…

  • Ted F said,

Aren’t there only 4 offers? Where’d you get the $50 total from?

  • dealswelike said,

@Ted F – Thanks for pointing that out. Clearly an adding error on my end!

  • Beth said,

for ppl that have done this at simon malls – -is there an activation fee – I don’t understand Dale’s comment above about an activation b/c it is amex card- I thought we had to buy a simon (or whatever mall group it is) -thanks for any clarification….

  • David said,

Beth, you have a choice of Visa or Amex when you purchase the $50 Simon card. Both come with a $2.95 fee; neither are reloadable. I bought an Amex card today at an Orlando mall.

    Nice deal – thanks

  • Debbie said,

When does the credit show up? I bought Amex at an Orlando mall yesterday and no credit showing yet.

  • dealswelike said,

@Debbie – typically takes a few business days. If it doesn’t show up by mid next week then I’d call Amex.

  • Debbie said,

Will do and thank you. @dealswelike

  • Akhil said,

I did not receive my credit from the Panera bread promotion on FIA Amex card. Is there a number I can call? I tried calling FIA and they have no idea about that. I called American express and thety said that they can’t access this account. Is there a number to reach for sync.amex.com?

  • dealswelike said,

@Akhil – What is FIA Amex card?
