This is a reminder that Starwood’s Fall promotion that I blogged about a few weeks ago just started on October 1 and will go through December 20. During this time frame you will earn double points on all stays of 1-2 nights and triple points on all stays of 3+ nights. You will also receive 250 bonus points on all stays booked online through spg.com or 500 bonus points on all stays booked through SPG iPhone app. You must register by November 30, but all stays prior to registering will count. So you don’t forget, just do it now!

To make the deal already sweeter, Starwood will give you an additional 250 points every time you check into an SPG hotel that corresponds with a stay. You must link your Starwood account with Foursquare to receive these bonus points.

While I am overall not thrilled with the 2x and 3x point promotion, to be able to receive an additional 750 points on your stay is pretty good. A 2 night stay at $150/night, for example, will earn you at least 1,950 points – more if you have status. And if the hotel has the green choice option where you can decline housekeeping, you’ll get another 500 points per night, which is great.

Make sure to take a look at the non-participating hotel list. The worst is staying at a hotel for a promotion and then realizing that you wont receive the bonus points.

    Is this for stays between oct-dec? Or just booking within that time frame?

    I’m having trouble figuring out if the 500 app bonus points and the 250 for Foursquare check in are only for paid stays, or if award stays qualify. Does anyone know? Thanks in advance.

    Just got off a chat with an SPG rep and she confirmed that award stays don’t count for the iPhone app and Foursquare deal. I’ll still do it anyway.
