Spend $250 at Travelocity, Get a $50 Statement Credit – It is Back!

Back in July I posted about this promotion where you can get a $50 statement credit when you spend $250 at Travelocity on a registered American Express credit card. At the time, the promotion was just through August 31. However, Amex has extended this promotion (along with many other syncing promos) to December 31, 2012.
Here are the terms of the promotion, but to recap:
- Tweet #AmexTravelocity to add this offer to your synced American Express Card
- Spend $250+ on a hotel only booking at Travelocity.com by 12/31/2012
- Travel through February 28, 2013
The feedback I heard the last time this promotion ran is that airfare is coded differently on your Amex statement, so it seems as though this really will only qualify for hotel reservations. Additionally, the dates of this promotion seem to include the previous start dates, so if you took advantage of this promotion already starting June 5th, I do not believe you will qualify again. It seems as though this is just an extension of the previous promotion, not a new promotion. I did reach out to American Express to see if this is in fact the case, but if there are any changes, I’ll be sure to update this post.
Also, if you want to take advantage of this promotion twice, sync different Amex credit cards to your account vs. your family/friends account. You can also register for this promotion via the Facebook “Amex Sync” application and have a different Amex synced for Twitter vs. Facebook. Remember, with almost all of the Amex sync promotions, you are limited to 1 statement credit per American Express credit card.

Thanks! But ever since the botched NFB promotion, I decided I won’t purchase anything from the Gnomes.

is this applicable on buying a travelocity gift card? Actually–is there even such a thing?

Does the $250 include tax?

@Mike T – The final price on your bill must state $250+

This is a heck of a deal if you also use the absurdly under-appreciated Travelocity Amex card from Barclays for 5 points per $1 (points are worth 2 cents in Travelocity credit). You could even use this credit when redeeming Travelocity points.
