UPDATE: This has now changed to “up to 6%” back, it depends on the item purchased.

Purchases at Best Buy can sometimes be quite expensive, like an iPad, computer, speaker system, television, etc. so getting 6% back can be a huge savings. The online shopping portal topcashback.com (which I’ve written about before – you can learn more about this site by reading this previous blog post) is will credit your account 6% when you go to BestBuy.com through their shopping portal.

Now, I know many people are skeptical about online shopping portals and that the points/cash back never comes through like it is supposed to, but I personally just used this shopping portal for a large Best Buy purchase and everything worked smoothly (and extremely quickly).

The terms on TopCashBack.com does state that this 6% is ending soon, so I am not sure how long it will actually last. Most other shopping portals are giving between 1-2% cash back or points per dollar spent. So 6% back is pretty big! I’d also prefer cash back on such a large purchase to bring down the entire cost. So on the $1,099.99 purchase that was just made (pre-tax) my TopCashBack.com account was credited with $66.00.

Remember, this is only for online purchases, BUT you can purchase online and do in-store pickup. No shipping fees and you can go get the item that day – usually it is ready in about 30 minutes. If the item is not currently available in-store than they will give you a timeframe for pick up, typically somewhere between 1-5 days.

Enjoy your 6% cash back!

Thanks for the heads up! Was that $1099 a new macbook air?

You would have done double that by buying best buy gift cards at plasticjungle (6% discount and cards are emailed withing min to 1 hr) via topcashback ( 4% cashback for plastic jungle) and then went through topcashback again to best buys for your other 6%…Or could have bought the card at cardpool (5% for best buys gcs) via topcashback (2%) and then again via topcashback to bestbuy…Next time might be smarter to pay better attention to what your fellow bloggers write about … cheers!

@gottaloveInk – You absolutely can do that, however, remember that you are getting no benefit of using a credit card to extend the warranty. Many credit cards will extend the manufactures warranty by doubling the time frame, up to a year. Many of the expensive products purchased at Best Buy will give you a 1 year warranty, thus using a credit card will give you an additional year, which is HUGE! This is primarily done with American Express credit cards, but others have this benefit as well. If you purchase gift cards you will not get that benefit. So it really depends what matters more to you – a larger discount or another year for your products warranty.

there is an app “cure” for that too…just leave a few $s from the purchase to be put on the cc…
