UPDATE: Sorry all, but looks like the 10% off code is not working for all flights listed below. Some are having success, while others are not. However, good news is that a local grocery store has 10% off codes and I will be stopping by tomorrow to pick up a bunch and give away to readers!

Through January 3, 2014 you can get 10% off your American Airline flight (excluding taxes) when flying to the following cities:

  • Baltimore
  • Charlotte
  • Chicago
  • Dallas Ft. Worth
  • Ft. Myers
  • Greenville
  • Indianapolis
  • Las Vegas
  • Los Angeles
  • Louisville
  • Memphis
  • Miami
  • Nashville
  • New Orleans
  • Ontario
  • Palm Springs
  • Raleigh
  • Santa Ana/Orange County
  • Washington DCA
  • Washington Dulles
  • West Palm Beach

The 10% off code is valid for all fare classes and can be used for itineraries up to six people. Use promotion code 1313SS when making your reservation.

Now the one big caveat to this promotion is that you won’t be able to put your flight on hold for 24 hours if you wanted to. When using a promotional code AA does not allow the 24 hour hold benefit, so you need to weigh the pros/cons for your particular situation. Additionally, this is only allowed for flights on American metal, not codeshare flights, i.e., British Airways, Cathay Pacific, etc.

More to come in the next few days on how to get 10% off all AA flights! Have a D’Agostino’s near you?!

Unfortunately, this code no longer works (at least to LAX).

  • Ryan said,

Just tried to use code on a flight from DFW, got error message saying promotional code is not valid.

    dito out of ORD

Sorry about this. But the good news is that there are MANY 10% off codes at a local grocery store. I will be picking up many of them tomorrow, so stay tuned for some codes if you need them.

  • Bob said,

The code is valid TO the listed destination and not FROM.

  • Chase said,

Yeah, it used to work but AA caught on and pulled the code early because of abuse

  • Jon said,

Chase – what kind of abuse? I suspect they may have pulled it because they weren’t careful about setting up restrictions around the use of the code (or perhaps it had a maximum number of redemptions).

  • Chase said,

Jon, this code was posted on FT for quite a while, was valid for an entire year (!!!) and had broad applicable destinations for a 10% discount. I used it a good 6 or 7 times myself so no doubt its rampant use raised flags at AA.

  • JettyBoy said,

I agree with Chase – I had used it a few times myself (got it from the FT thread) but I believe AA pulled it early.

    ORD-DUS RT, nonstop:

The Promotion Code entered is not valid. Please enter a valid Promotion Code, or remove to continue.

Where can I find this coupon from grocery stores?

  • AAtraveler said,

Any updates on the “local” grocery store stocking AA 10%’s? Can’t seem to find the follow-up post to this one…thanks much!

  • dealswelike said,

@AAtraveler – I’ve been away for the week so unfortunately haven’t been able to check it out. But that is on the to do list for this weekend.
