I just saw on FlyerTalk that there have been some targeted promotions pushed out to select Southwest members. While I personally was not targeted, this is a great promotion and absolutely worth checking to see if a promotion exists in your account. For the most part, the promotion started this past Monday (March 11th), but has different end dates, ranging through the end of April to mid-June.

The promotion terms vary, but it seems as though all of them are “Fly X number of times, and get 20,000 bonus points.” From what I’ve seen they range from 6 one-ways to 14 one-ways. 20,000 bonus points is HUGE, and worth a fixed $333.33 in free travel on a “Wanna Getaway” fare.

It seems as though some people received emails while others just saw it in their Promotions page on their account. To see if you’ve been targeted:

  • Sign into your account
  • Click the “My Account” link on the right-hand side of the page
  • In the “Snapshot” page, click Promotions to expand that section
  • You will all probably see the “Nationwide Double Points & MKE Double TQP 2013FEB” promo, but continue to click the “View All” link to see if any additional promos have been sent your way

If you do see another promotion listed, you’ve been targeted. Since I was not targeted, I cannot see exactly what is stated. Make sure to register and only booked made after registering will apply. If you’ve already made a flight and the cost has not changed you can cancel and rebook (just make sure to get a new confirmation number). If your flight has increased in price significantly, you’ll have to make that call on whether or not it is worth it for you.

Has anyone been targeted? This can be a great promo for those that were! And remember, for all flights through mid-May you’ll earn double bonus points!
