There are so many good deals out there right now that if you have the time you can get the MQM’s at a steal. If you are thinking of a Delta status match challenge, you MUST earn the miles via BIS according to the T&C. (but you can still get a Delta Reserve card to add to that total after)!
I have my upcoming Chicago to Istanbul trip booked and there are still a bunch of dates open if anyone needs an extra 12,000+ MQM’s for under $600 with 2 days in the air and 1 overnight in AMS or CDG or IST!
But if we look over at FlyerTalk’s mileage run board, there are MANY more choices even some STARTING IN Europe no less:
- DL: MKE-ATL-LAX-ATL-MKE $257 RT (5200 mqm)
- DL: AMS-GRU $643 a/i r/t 3.5cpm
- DL: LAX-JFK-SJU $406 RT (8144 mqm / 4.9 cpm: purchase by Jan 14)
- DL: San-PVD, ai $263.30 4.1 cpm
- DL: SEA-OKC/BNA/DAY/MKE/STL $242 AI RT either direction 4.1 CPM
- DL: PDX-MCI $223 AI as low as 3.9 CPM either direction
- DL: MCI-SAN $216 AI RT Either direction 4.2 CPM

nothing out of SFO
no MSP?
@Ken @Lu – reposition?
Did a run for SJU with SFO-LAX-JFK-SJU-JFK-SFO in November for $317 (around Sandy). So even the LAX-SJU one looks pricey right now.
How do I get to PDX on the cheap?
@Ken – BA Avois points? 50,000 for just $1,000 spend!
I booked LAX-ATL-MKE RT for $251 ai. DL is certainly having some nice MR’s via LAX lately. If you throw in a couple LAX-MIA runs you could conceivably end up w/ 25k MQM’s out of LAX via MR’s in 2013 for under $1,500. Pretty darn good earning right there.
@JGfromOC – YES and you will have your status until FEB2015 – crazy good! – Rene
Ya, I hit up the ORD-AMS-IST for my first mileage run the first weekend in March… It’s a pretty good deal. No time for the stopover, but I may try to work another trip in later this year.
Best part is my FO status will renew again by Feb thanks to my 10 MQM rollover and a couple work trips and MR’s. I’ll have at least GM June if I can find another couple MR’s and with my TATL trip coming up in the summer and if the MR’s and biz trips continue I’ll end 2013 as a PM with 20k or so rolling over into 2014. Nice to start the year off with a plan.
I need something out of RSW. FLL is a short 1 hr drive for me but RSW is 15 min away.
@Steve – MCO-LAX-MCO is $250 day out red-eye back 5.5cpm with 4400+ MQM on a few dates next two months. A few bucks more for connects and more MQM’s
Found LAX-MCO (w/ ATL on the return) for $270 ai in early March. Little over 4500 MQM’s on that run. Booking it now. I have a problem me thinks.
@JGfromOC – look on the bright side – you are meeting spend on some card right
Did (am doing) my first run. PHL-SLC-SEA-SLC-PHL at $180. A big thank you to the blog!
@JBG – I want to fly with you
– Rene
haha, not really meeting my spend limit…these MR’s are too darn cheap.
On the Chicago to Istanbul flight, is a stopover allowed for a few days in Paris/CDG in addition to Istanbul. Are visas required for us citizens? Thanks for any info you can share!
Any date suggestions for the ORD-IST ?
I also found an LAX-IST which requires fare splitup at IAD to a KL fare IAD-IST. All fares earn mileage on DL working out to 4.4 cpm.
@Jackie – sure you can stop over in CDG or IST on the trip and no visa needed for either country for a visit of under 90 days: http://www.letsgoistanbul.com/before.htm
Great MR right now from JFK-Moscow for $457 r/t direct. Many dates in March offer that fare (which incredibly is under $100 each way in actual fare for Delta, the rest is taxes and fees). Almost 10k MQMs for under $500!
I see from your screen shot that you are using ITA Matrix (which I then found at http://matrix.itasoftware.com/). I’ve never heard of / used that before. I always use Kayak (thru Yapta, to track fares). Maybe you can do a “compare and contrast” blog post about ITA Matrix vs. Yapta/Kayak?
This also works with DTW. I just booked DTW ATL SNA ATL DTW. 1/25-26,
Also works for 2/1-2, 2/11-12, and 2/18-19
Total cost $266= 5026 MQMs
@Penoir – GREAT so many are looking for good DTW runs. My thanks = Rene
CLT, AVL or GSP…..I know, the last two I should NOT hold my breath on.
I am a perpetual platinum on business alone….but have always wanted to hit DM and do a MR. I booked the. IST run….am so terribly excited. Any hints on how to scare up an upgrade on the KLM 747? I have never been on a 747 and dream of being in business or better yet, upstairs! Great blog…keep it up.
