Steven Frischling, aka: Fish, is a self employed photographer, and founder of The Travel Strategist, who has flown approximately 1,000,000 miles since he began to track his mileage 2005.

Fish's travels have included fun trip such as flying from New York to Basrah, Iraq, for six hours; flying from Connecticut to Tokyo for less than two days; multiple trips to Hong Kong for the day......and managed to fly around the world one-and-a-half times in 4.5 days while photographing a project for an international airline.

Fish spends his non-flying time shooting photos, hanging out with his kids, helping others plan their travels and planning his next flight itinerary.

8/11/2009 – There Is Only One Item On This Airline Geek’s Holiday Wish List

Halloween is over and for the past few days I have listened to my children and their friends rattle off endless lists of what they would like for Chanukah and Christmas.

Listening to their holiday gift banter asking for toy trains, trips to Disney World, iPods, laptops, DVDs and just about everything else you could imagine, I took a moment to step back and think about what I wanted for Chanukah.

In reality there is not much I want for Chanukah. The first things that came to mind were an end to the global economic crisis, access to more clients and more work…so I can buy my kids what they want for Chanukah…maybe a new car of my choice sitting out front…but really all of these things are unrealistic to place on a holiday wish list. After carefully thinking about what I wanted I kept coming back to something I want, that is attainable, but that I never seem to purchase.

What is it that I have been eyeing for the past two years? A Gemini Jets 1:400 scale co-branded Northwest Airlines – KLM McDonnell Douglas DC-10-30 (model #: GJNWA544)

So for those of you eyeing your holiday shopping lists with my name on it (I think this list consists of one person, who rarely if ever reads Flying With Fish), in true airplane geek fashion the only material item on my wish list is a toy plane. This is not just any toy plane…this plane depicts an aircraft no longer in regular commercial passenger service bearing the livery of one airline that no longer exists.

So I guess what I really want for Chanukah is a 1:400 scale piece of history.

Below is a photo of the Gemini Jets 1:400 scale co-branded Northwest Airlines – KLM McDonnell Douglas DC-10-30 (model #: GJNWA544) on my Wish List…as well as two photos of the actual aircraft flown dually by both Northwest Airlines & KLM.

Happy Flying!
