Steven Frischling, aka: Fish, is globe hopping professional photographer, airline emerging media consultant working with large global airlines and founder of The Travel Strategist. Fish has racked up more than 1,000,000 miles since he started to track his mileage in 2005.

Fish's travel tends to be less than leisurely, including flying from New York to Basrah, Iraq, for six hours; Hong Kong for eight hours, Kuwait City for two hours and traveling around the world in 3.5 days to shoot a series of photo assignments in 4 cities and 4 countries on 3 separate continents.

Fish grew up at the end of New York's JFK International Airport's Runway 4R/22L, which probably explains his enjoyment of watching planes, fly overhead. When not shooting photos or traveling Fish designs camera bags, hones is expertise on airline security and spends his time at home cheering for the Red Sox with his 3 kids 102 yards from the ocean.

Happy Birthday To Southwest Airlines & Your Lunch Boxes Lasted the School Year!

Back in August of last year my son Max was about to enter Kindergarten, all excited to enter Kindergarten Max really wanted to use my old and tattered Southwest Airlines…which was in no shape to be a kindergarteners lunch box. How was this resolved? Well an off handed commented to some folks at Southwest Airlines [...]

iPad App of the Week : Filterstorm

The iPad has a significant amount of potential for both professional photographer and amateur photographers. Once photographers get past the fact that the iPad will not handle a full version of Adobe Photoshop, there is no Apple Aperture Application and Camera Bits will not be introducing a Photo Mechanic App they can start embracing the [...]

Don’t Scoff At Thomas Cook Airlines’ Sony PSP In-Flight Entertainment

A few days ago Thomas Cook Airlines, based in Manchester England, announced that they’d be introducing the hand-held Sony PSP as their new in-flight entertain solution for passengers.  While it seems that many inside the industry appear to be looking at Thomas Cook’s decision and scratching their head … I completely understand the rational. Reader Mail : “Why had no one made a full double-decker before the A380?”

This week’s reader mail comes from Joyce, in Oregon, and it’s a favourite topic of mine.  Joyce asks “With the popularity of the Boeing 747, why had no one made a full double-decker before the A380?” Well Joyce … first off the design of the Boeing 747 was actually designed for cargo and cargo conversion [...]

The ‘You Might Be An Airline Geek If…’ Quiz

Summer is in the air, the sun is shining, some airlines are doing well and others are on strike … so I figured this might be a good time to interject some humour into Flying With Fish. To completely rip off a comedy concept by Jeff Foxworthy, this post is all about “You might be [...]

GUEST POST : …and now…a message from AirportBars.com

Within the community of airplane geeks, airline geeks, airport geeks, travel enthusiasts there are many subspecies of geeks. The most common species of airline and airport geeks are plane spotters and mileage runners. When it comes to subspecies of geeks, I’d probably fall into the niche of ‘airport sleeper aficionado’ … but today’s guest post [...]

Spirit Airlines’ Pilots Go On Strike : Is This The End?

It appears that the old pep rally cheer of “We’ve got spirit yes we do! We’ve got spirit how ’bout you?” does not apply to Spirit Airlines. At 5:01AM eastern standard time, after long negations had broken off between Spirit Airlines‘ and its Pilot’s represented by the Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA) … and following [...]
