Steven Frischling, aka: Fish, is globe hopping professional photographer, airline emerging media consultant working with large global airlines and founder of The Travel Strategist. Fish has racked up more than 1,000,000 miles since he started to track his mileage in 2005.

Fish's travel tends to be less than leisurely, including flying from New York to Basrah, Iraq, for six hours; Hong Kong for eight hours, Kuwait City for two hours and traveling around the world in 3.5 days to shoot a series of photo assignments in 4 cities and 4 countries on 3 separate continents.

Fish grew up at the end of New York's JFK International Airport's Runway 4R/22L, which probably explains his enjoyment of watching planes, fly overhead. When not shooting photos or traveling Fish designs camera bags, hones is expertise on airline security and spends his time at home cheering for the Red Sox with his 3 kids 102 yards from the ocean.

I am well aware that many who read Flying With Fish are airline and travel enthusiasts and quite a few photogs wondering where my content for them has gone (and I’ll have some for them shortly) … but there are also quite a few airplane geeks who like the hardcore geek content. Well … Flying [...]

The Lockheed L-1011 Flies Into It’s 40th Year

The Lockheed L-1011 TriStar took to the skies for the first time forty years ago today, November 16th 1970. To me is the L-1011 is the airplane that started my love of airplanes, airlines, travel and the smell of jet fuel.   The L-1011 was not only an airplane that flew over my house day and [...]

This week’s Reader Mail comes from Jessica in Phoenix, AZ. Jessica asks “I just watched the United Airlines Twitter link from KTLA in the cockpit of a Boeing 747 and with the pilots sitting in their seats I can’t get a sense for all the screens and controls a pilot has in front of them. [...]

Guest Post: AvGeeks Unite!

Todays Guest Post goes excellently with last week’s guest post from Leighton Matthews Guest Post – Plane Pics – A Spotter’s Story. Many who work in the airline industry are enthusiasts, or Aviation Geeks, also known as AvGeeks … and this is brought to light by Amelia Kelly, a flight attendant from Down Under (or [...]

The Farnborough Airshow…Its Disney World for Airplane People

I have the pleasure of spending this entire coming week in England bouncing between London and Farnborough while attending the Farnborough International Airshow. The biennial Farnborough International Airshow, which alternates years with the Paris Air Show, is a major international air show where airlines, aircraft leasing companies, private operators and aircraft manufacturers often display their [...]

Reader Mail : “Why had no one made a full double-decker before the A380?”

This week’s reader mail comes from Joyce, in Oregon, and it’s a favourite topic of mine.  Joyce asks “With the popularity of the Boeing 747, why had no one made a full double-decker before the A380?” Well Joyce … first off the design of the Boeing 747 was actually designed for cargo and cargo conversion [...]

The ‘You Might Be An Airline Geek If…’ Quiz

Summer is in the air, the sun is shining, some airlines are doing well and others are on strike … so I figured this might be a good time to interject some humour into Flying With Fish. To completely rip off a comedy concept by Jeff Foxworthy, this post is all about “You might be [...]
