Steven Frischling, aka: Fish, is globe hopping professional photographer, airline emerging media consultant working with large global airlines and founder of The Travel Strategist. Fish has racked up more than 1,000,000 miles since he started to track his mileage in 2005.

Fish's travel tends to be less than leisurely, including flying from New York to Basrah, Iraq, for six hours; Hong Kong for eight hours, Kuwait City for two hours and traveling around the world in 3.5 days to shoot a series of photo assignments in 4 cities and 4 countries on 3 separate continents.

Fish grew up at the end of New York's JFK International Airport's Runway 4R/22L, which probably explains his enjoyment of watching planes, fly overhead. When not shooting photos or traveling Fish designs camera bags, hones is expertise on airline security and spends his time at home cheering for the Red Sox with his 3 kids 102 yards from the ocean.

Dear TSA – MacBook Air & iPad In The Bag Or Out?

It is hard to believe I have been traveling with an iPad for well over half-a-year now and an 11″ MacBook Air for more than a month. Both of these travel tools have changed how I work on the road and how I pack … but both tools present a consistent problem at the start [...]

Scottevest Travel Vest : There’s A Pocket For That

Baggage is an annoyance on the road; even carry on baggage, especially short trips.  Travel with bags slows travelers up at security check points, leaves traveler property at risk for theft or loss at security check points … and for day trips requires travelers to schlep their bags wherever they go. Yes, I admit, there [...]

iPad App of the Week : Portfolio for iPad

In the digital world online portfolios are rapidly replacing printed portfolios, yet photographers still have the need to present their work in person … and the desire to share their newly created images wherever they may be. The iPad is a fantastic tool for photographers, with new Apps being released constantly turning the iPad into [...]

iPad App of the Week : Flipboard

After being noticeably absent for the past few weeks from Flying With Fish as I focused primarily on aviation security stories I am happy to bring back the iPad App of the Week series. I ‘ve missed writing the Apps of the Week … so hopefully I’m done being side tracked for now. I am [...]

iPad App of the Week : TiltShift Generator

My photo editing on my iPad is usually similar to my editing on my computer … quick and dirty … crop, colour correct, size, save. For my primary editing with the iPad I use Filterstorm, which I have written about HERE (and I need to rewrite since the App has been improved significantly), but sometimes [...]

iPad App of the Week : Index Card

Sometimes useful apps for travel and creative business are intended and marketed at a completely different market for a completely unrelated group of users … yet their function is fantastic for travelers and ‘creatives.’ This week’s iPad App of the Week falls into this category. This week’s iPad App of the Week is Index Card. [...]

iPad App of the Week : PocketTrav

It seems that all the good travel apps are designed for the iPhone, leaving iPad users out in the cold. The good news is that more travel apps are being released for iPad users … and this week’s iPad App of the Week is one of the new ones… …this week’s iPad App of the [...]

iPad App of the Week : Lonely Planet Discover eBooks

It is no secret that I love pretty much everything Lonely Planet publishes. I have written about Lonely Planet’s Encounter Guides on both Flying With Fish and KLM’s Blog, written about their iPhone language translation iPhone Apps and iPhone City Guide Apps … so when Lonely Planet asked me if I was interested in checking [...]

iPad App of the Week : Mosquito Repeller

Sometimes I see Apps on the iTunes App Store that just make me chuckle, however this week’s iPad App of the Week both makes me chuckle and actually works. With more than 2,500 variants of mosquitoes around the world (and the London Underground literally having essentially an entirely different species of mosquito than the rest [...]

iPad App of the Week : Adobe Ideas

Sometimes the best Apps are the simplest Apps … and this week’s iPad App of the Week is one that makes creating concepts and sharing ideas as easy possible. This week’s iPad App of the Week is Adobe Ideas. Adobe Ideas takes the simplicity of using the iPad and transforms it into a highly functional [...]
