Steven Frischling, aka: Fish, is globe hopping professional photographer, airline emerging media consultant working with large global airlines and founder of The Travel Strategist. Fish has racked up more than 1,000,000 miles since he started to track his mileage in 2005.

Fish's travel tends to be less than leisurely, including flying from New York to Basrah, Iraq, for six hours; Hong Kong for eight hours, Kuwait City for two hours and traveling around the world in 3.5 days to shoot a series of photo assignments in 4 cities and 4 countries on 3 separate continents.

Fish grew up at the end of New York's JFK International Airport's Runway 4R/22L, which probably explains his enjoyment of watching planes, fly overhead. When not shooting photos or traveling Fish designs camera bags, hones is expertise on airline security and spends his time at home cheering for the Red Sox with his 3 kids 102 yards from the ocean.

Scottevest Travel Vest : There’s A Pocket For That

Baggage is an annoyance on the road; even carry on baggage, especially short trips.  Travel with bags slows travelers up at security check points, leaves traveler property at risk for theft or loss at security check points … and for day trips requires travelers to schlep their bags wherever they go. Yes, I admit, there [...]

iPhone App of the Week : FlyersRights

After being noticeably absent for the past few weeks from Flying WIth Fish as I focused primarily on aviation security stories I am happy to bring back the iPhone App of the Week series. This week’s iPhone App of the Week is timed to correspond with the peak holiday travel season … which also happens [...]

Versihold : An iPhone Travel Essential

How to hold your iPhone while watching a movie on a flight … it’s a problem that has plagued users since all the way back to June 29 2007 (OK, its not that long ago) … but now there is a solution that is better than most others. The Versihold Personal Media Stand is an [...]

iPhone Apps of the Week : Air France & KLM

An iPhone App I have been waiting to see since December (when I was authoring KLM’s Blog) was released a few days ago … and in tandem. Sure quite a few airlines have iPhone Apps now, but this is the first time two airlines have coordinated the release of essentially the same app with two [...]

iPhone App of the Week : AirTweets

There is one common fact about many of the apps I choose to highlight as my iPhone App of the week each week … it is that these apps are simple in function. The occasional complicated app shows up, but most apps are fairly singular in purpose. This week’s app is not different. These week’s [...]

iPhone App of the Week : ITA Software OnTheFly

If you’re a follower of my Twitterstream (@flyingwithfish) ,  you’ll see the same company’s website mentioned time and time again in regard to finding flight solutions and comparing airfares. This week’s iPhone App of the week is created by the same company I’ve recommend over and over again in Twitter. This week’s iPhone App of [...]

iPhone App of the Week : My TSA

This week’s iPhone App of the Week has been around for nearly two months, but due to the creator of this App I needed to make sure the App worked only in ‘one direction’ before writing about it.  In a society becoming more like George Orwell’s 1984 every day I needed to do some homework [...]

iPhone App of the Week : Travisa Visa

Visas for international travel can be complicated. Some countries do not require a visa, some require visas for specific types of travel, some require everyone to have a visa … and all this information changes based upon a traveler’s nationality. I know seasoned travelers, top tier airline elite frequent flyers, who have arrived at the [...]

Aeroflot Introduces Mobile Phone Check-In, Sort Of…

Russian flag carrier Aeroflot struggles at times to keep up with the times. Aeroflot has made considerable strides in some areas, such as introducing a modern Airbus fleet with an average age of less than three years old and an order for 22 Boeing 787-800 aircraft scheduled to enter service in 2016. As Aeroflot is [...]

iPhone App of the Week : Airline Finder

Every airline’s most public billboard is the livery of their aircraft. Traveling to and through foreign airports and unfamiliar areas recognizing airline liveries can be a challenge. For those with the curiosity to know all the airline liveries they spot, or to find out the livery of an airline they are unfamiliar with … this [...]
