Steven Frischling, aka: Fish, is globe hopping professional photographer, airline emerging media consultant working with large global airlines and founder of The Travel Strategist. Fish has racked up more than 1,000,000 miles since he started to track his mileage in 2005.

Fish's travel tends to be less than leisurely, including flying from New York to Basrah, Iraq, for six hours; Hong Kong for eight hours, Kuwait City for two hours and traveling around the world in 3.5 days to shoot a series of photo assignments in 4 cities and 4 countries on 3 separate continents.

Fish grew up at the end of New York's JFK International Airport's Runway 4R/22L, which probably explains his enjoyment of watching planes, fly overhead. When not shooting photos or traveling Fish designs camera bags, hones is expertise on airline security and spends his time at home cheering for the Red Sox with his 3 kids 102 yards from the ocean.

Kicked Off A Plane For Being Gay Or Just Inappropriate?

Social Media … the ultimate tool for those who feel wronged, especially celebrities and semi-celebrities.   Earlier this week was no different when actress Leisha Hailey Tweeted that a Southwest Airlines flight attendant had her removed from her flight for being a lesbian.   In a matter of moments, The L-Word star’s tweets were ripping through [...]

Photographers, Southwest Airlines & Pre-Boarding

It seems that once a week, if not more often, a photographer emails me, Tweets more or calls me asking about Southwest Airline’s preboarding for photographers and credentialed media.   While the link to Southwest Airlines’ preboarding may no longer be on their website, the policy still very much exists, and is great for ensuring [...]

Who Takes Top Honours For Best April Fools Gag? WestJet & TSA

I’ll be the first one to admit it, I really don’t like April Fools Day … especially when its perpetuated by legitimate news and editorial organizations, large corporations and government entities using April Fools Day to create fake news stories.  The intertwining of legitimate news and gag news stories crosses the line and muddies the [...]

Southwest Airlines Holds Flight For Family Of A Murdered Child

Earlier this week Christopher Elliot reported a story that is one of those tear jerkers. I am sure most of you have read this story already, but for those of you who have not, go grab a handkerchief, because this is a story that you have to read. In place of Elliott’s usual Monday “Can [...]

Silent Bob Gets Loud About Missing A Flight

Actor and Director Kevin Smith (widely known for his portrayal of Silent Bob in a slew of movies) has had a rough year with airlines. Earlier this year, back in February, Smith had a run in with Southwest Airlines, when the airline enforced its “Customer of Size Policy,” which it has had in place for [...]

Southwest’s New WiFi Concept…where have I heard this before?

Southwest Airlines is well known for being a low cost carrier, staying a few steps ahead of its competitors and shunning traditional ancillary revenue streams. While in Dallas yesterday as a guest at Southwest Airlines’ Media Day Southwest Airlines announced a new simplified in-flight internet pricing plan, in conjunction with their service provider Row 44.  [...]

Atlanta May Be Southwest Airlines’ Promised Land

Today during Southwest Airlines’ Media Day, after I enquired how the airline intended to handle Delta Air Lines and competition in Atlanta once they complete their acquisition of AirTran. The response I received was a bit unexpected.  While I expected the “we need to focus on own needs” response … I did not expect the [...]

AirplaneGeeks Episode 117 – Something Fishy Here

This week’s episode of Airplane Geeks appears to have an appropriate title, as I was the guest on the popular aviation podcast for the third time and my four appearances on the show. Episode 117 has been titled “Something Fishy Here.” If you have some time download Airplane Geeks from the site or on iTunes.  [...]
