United Airlines ended up matching the fare posted by American and Delta in the Los Angeles to Kansas City market, so here’s another mileage run opportunity post for today. This one is what I consider a “book it without thinking about it” fare since the CPM comes in at 2.81cpm.

[Edited 2/8/12 7:00pm PST: United pulled this fare tonight, but AA & DL haven't yet... we'll see what tomorrow brings.]

I searched availability now through the end of May and found only two dates where you can do a zero-night turn, but there are other dates available for a 1-night stay, as shown below. United didn’t put an expiration on this fare, so there are likely more runs available beyond May.

Note the tight connection on that last segment SFO-LAX, but personally I wouldn’t worry about it. There’s at least two more flights if you were to misconnect.

Routing: Los Angeles to San Francisco to Cleveland to Kansas City roundtrip

Travel period: Now through end-of-schedule

Dates I found available: 5/1 & 5/2 (1-nighters are open 4/24, 5/1, 5/7, 5/8 and 5/15)

Number of nights stay: 0

Day of week restrictions: None

Fare basis: GA7KN, 7-day advance purchase

Fare: $188.80 all-in

Elite Qualifying Miles earned: 6,712 (assumes 500-mile minimums)

Cents-per-mile (CPM): 2.81

Example itinerary:

Happy running!

You always have something out of west coast, what about us here in NYC ? Any routes ?

  2. Darren says:

@Sahib: Yeah, I’ve been pretty West coast-centric, but now that I have more time on my hands, I’ll be sure to expand out. I have a big list of origin requests from readers, and NYC is on there, so stay tuned.

How are you searching for these? Love this one.. Would love any more UA ones you’ve got, particularly out of MSY or IAH =)

    Thanks!

  4. Geeezzz so you can “BUY” 1k status for 15days of life on a plane for under $3000. Humm…. nah! But very kool.

@Rizwan: I’m using the Farecompare Maps tool while the Flyertalk option still claims to be “coming soon.” I’ve got a list of origins going & MSY & IAH are on it, so over time, I’ll be checking more than just West coast origins.
@deltagoldflyer: Yup, so long as the routing rules stay as generous as they are and United doesn’t shut down CLE as a hub.

  7. Rizwan Kassim says:

    Thanks!

    FYI, this works MCI-CLE-SFO-LAX also.

  8. @Darran – ya know if someone was looking to status match, this could be a way to get 1k for much much less than 15 days and $3,000!

Could work the other way with Delta too that I think you talked about. Just a point to think about anyway when you must fly a certain amount of miles.

  9. ybangale says:

Geez, this is great! Please, what are the dates for the IAH origin and what exact routes are you getting?

  10. Darren says:

@deltagoldflyer: Interesting point, never really thought about combining something like this with a status match/challenge.
@ybangale: This fare is valid to/from LAX & MCI only. I have IAH on my list to begin checking for runs, so stay tuned.

  11. ybangale says:

Thanks, Darren! BTW, definitely follow your Passion!

  12. Darren says:

    @ybangale: Thanks… that’s definitely my goal!

  13. WillRunForMiles (katstarr) says:

Do people ever do mileage runs together? If so, I’m game for one originating at JFK or LGA. I’m told I’m a great seatmate!

  14. Joseph says:

Hi Darren, I salivate over these tempting mileage runs – too bad none from YYZ! Canadian airfares are just so darn expensive. Would love to see any runs from EWR or LGA, as I can use my points to get from YYZ to NY to start the runs :)

  15. Darren says:

@WillRunForMiles: I’ve taken several runs with people before… sometimes we meet that way. NYC can be a great market and I’ll starting looking for more origins to post soon.
@Joseph: See above & I was able to find a run for someone from YOW in December. I’ll keep my eye on YYZ, too.
