It’s time for another Vintage Airline Seat Map and I’ve selected a Continental Airlines MD-80 (Super 80) seen flying the skies in 1987.
According to PlaneSpotters.net, Continental had about 42 in its fleet and the version appearing below offered 16 seats in first class and 130 in coach.
Sitting up front is always fun on takeoff, as it’s so quiet given how far away you are from the engines. As such, I’d opt for 2F in first and 6A or 7A in coach.

@Chris: Good catch! Yep, the map-maker definitely must’ve “cut & pasted” incorrectly from another map… obviously not wing-mounted.
I think I’d pick 29F in coach. I love the sound of the engine buzz at take-off (yea I’m one of the sicko’s that prefers the seats just forward of the engines on all aircraft).
It’s interesting that this map has 16 first class seats. By the late 1990s, Continental’s MD-80 fleet had 14 first class seats, with the space where 1 E/F would have been filled with a rather large coat closet.
