Sunday, September 30, 9:15 PM and the delays continue at DFW. Here’s the flight board:20120930-212200.jpg
Given the continuing instability it’s likely the rest of my flying this year will go to Delta unless/until AA gets this resolved. Unfortunately, AA’s labor doesn’t seem to see how poorly this reflects on them – and how much that ends up hurting them in the end.

I even witnessed a new tactic tonight – station management working the gate coming on board and ID’ing every passenger seated in First class, one by one, from the manifest/passenger list. Every person, every seat – after we’d already boarded using boarding passes that were scanned by the scanner as we proceeded down the ramp.

At DFW, the delays at our gate and the ate beside us were both attributed to “crews cleaning the aircraft.”

While actions like these continue, passengers lose.

Update: My 9:40 flight was finally officially delayed until 10:00 PM, and took off sometime after 10:10. This update sponsored by Gogo… :)

Yup, sitting here in Dallas…waiting for my delayed AA flight…

Lets all say a collective thanks to organized labor! Thanks unions for ruining everything you touch.

I think unions, in some cases, do good things on behalf of workers and provide a strong voice for groups than an individual could ever have. When those unions, though, begin to represent themselves and the values of “the union” vs. those of the employee, who exists to benefit the company, things go horribly wrong.

Ivan – Too bad I didn’t see this earlier, I’d have said hello!

  5. Hey Mike, was suppose to be flying to HNL today in in F. Flight first got delayed and then totally canceled. Same exact flight had “maintance issues” yesterday causing it to be delayed. My wife was so upset. Literally 2 day of her vacation has been robbed from us. I’m just glad that the EXP desk rebooked us even before I got to the AAngles desk. Flighttrack Pro has been a godsend app today. I was at the 1st at the club desk even before it was even announced. I set up some seat alerts on expert flyer to try to get out earlier tomorrow. Do you recommend any other must have travel apps or tools during this AA time of turbulence?

Perry – Since I’m an EF subscriber, I find EF’s mobile site to be invaluable and I keep a weblink to it on my iPhone. Same for ITA Matrix, now owned by Google – I use that app quite a bit. Other than that, a good, violent video game to quell the rage (kidding, of course… but I find something to take my mind off the delay helps).

The real travesty for me tonight is being stuck in 6A and having both Glenlivets claimed before getting to my row. :)

Make sure and ask AA for compensation for the hotel nights if they’re non-cancellable.

Last week my BOS-DFW flight landed 30 mins EARLY. Not sure what you guys are complaining about :D … kidding (about the complaining). Had been a while since my flight got in THAT early when we took off on time.
