It seems that both sides want to try again in the Frankfurt Airport dispute and the strike action has ended (for now) at 22:00CET

This brings to an end of 5 days of strikes, with FraPort and the GdF Union agreeing to fresh talks

The GdF Union, which wants higher pay and shorter working hours, said it would end the strike at 2200 CET, and hopes to begin new talks on Thursday

The cancellation list is long and varied, with European and German domestic services hit hardest (and Lufthansa suffering as Frankfurt being its major hub) with over 1000 flights hit. Intercontinental has not been hit as hard.

However, this isn’t the end of the trouble – least of all planes are out of position. So you’ve guessed it – more cancellations ahoy tomorrow until the planes get back in their proper rotations.

The source of the strikes is the new 4th Runway at Frankfurt with operations becoming more complex, and FraPort refusing to agree a 50-70% wage rise.

Lets hope the talk succeed… or else we could be back at square one sooner rather than later…
