Star Alliance has a new contest up and running for all of us, called Picture your Upgrade where the grand prize offers Star Alliance Gold status and a couple of Round The World Business Class tickets on Star Alliance carriers.

The contest, open for participation till 4th April 2012, has a series of tasks where iPhone, Android and BlackBerry phone owners can find themselves using their phones to make entries using a special app for this contest, available for download on your respective App Stores.

There are 7 weekly tasks on offer, and each task started last for two weeks. For instance, the first task was to click pictures of three airport departure boards using the app described above, and upload them via the app. There are quite some interesting high-end prizes on offer for each of the weekly tasks:

  • Concierge Service
  • 5 Star Hotel suite
  • Luxury Luggage including a Montblanc Travel Bag and a Montblanc messenger bag.
  • 2 Corbusier LC2 Petit Modele armchairs
  • A VIP Experience, either in New York, Barcelona or Singapore.
  • Travel Case
  • 2 Return Business Class tickets

You get in the running for the Grand Prize if you complete any of the task successfully. You stand to win 2 Round the World Business Class tickets to commence travel before 31st December 2012 if you win the Grand Prize. Also, one member participating from each member Frequent Flyer Program will go Gold for a year on their respective programs.

As I can see it, for the road warriors this should be an easy on to crack. So why wait? Register and start fixing the tasks for your entry to the prizes!

If you guys have been wondering where did I go away with all your prizes after getting back from the MegaDo, you’ll be surprised. I am right here, except that a few hours after landing back home from a 24 hour bout of flying and airports, I got working on a project that has had me working 2-3 days flat out with no breathers. Apologies for the delay in reaching out to all of you for the winners of the prizes. Here we go with the correct answers:

a) Which airline would you like to see join oneworld next?

No one right answer…it’s your choice after all

b) Where am I based out of?

Mumbai, India

c) Where all is the charter plane of the oneworld MegaDo going in January 2012?

DFW-SEA-LAX

d) White or Pink?

Determining question if you won the Milepoint t-shirt!

The MegaDo bounty consisted of the following 4 prizes, like advised in this post and this one, and I am adding one more to it just now to make it 5!

  • 1 Winner gets a bag full of goodies that came our way from the MegaDo.
  • 1 Winner gets the Fly for the Cure MilePoint t-shirt
  • 1 Winner gets a 1 day Admirals Club pass, which you could also use for a 100$ discount on sign-up of an annual membership
  • 1 Winner gets a oneworld Lapel Pin
  • 1 Winner gets a single-flight gogo inflight coupon

So, here we go with the winners via Random.org. I drew from amongst the 117 entries we got till cut-off, and the left to right order depicts the various winners from Prize 1 to Prize 5!

And then, we get the winners:

Commentor 71 did not get it right (answered the whole trip instead of the charter leg, trick questions?), so commentor 54 got the first prize. However, since he did get a drawing on the board, we’ll get him the 5th prize instead in the spirit of fun! Here are our winners:

MegaDo Bounty: chchkiwi

T-shirt: Nathan G

Admirals Club Pass: Seemal

oneworld Lapel Pin: Alessandra

gogo inflight: Paolo

Guys, congrats on your prizes. I’ll soon be in touch on your email address you left us with to check how we could get it delivered across to you all! And in case you did not win, here is the opportunity to win the goodie bag from MommyPoints, who is running a giveaway till tomorrow!

I’ll write up about my tales from the MegaDo shortly, though other bloggers have been doing a good job at telling you what they saw!

I’ve been on the road and in the air many a times, but on a party flight, it was my first! I’m waiting to get the few hours of sleep time which I can eat into and post all I want to tell you guys here, and it shall happen soon. But for those who want to gather all the live action, Gary Leff from View from the Wing is blogging all at www.megado.com/blogs! So go ahead and find out about the party in the air which happened DFW-SEA-LAX. Including a 2-hour tarmac delay when we all boarded SEA-LAX and the flight needed a new part to fly next segment. AA was a gracious host, the beverages were flowing and we cancelled the meal service, with the AAdvantage President Susanne Rubin on board! No one was complaining since everyone was engrossed in the charity auctions, and this delay allowed for a few more swipes on the credit card machine before we wheeled-up.

A quick update on the swag giveaway I rolled out before leaving home. It is still time till I get back to my home, and you can participate at this post here.

I am adding new prizes to the giveaway. Which means more random.org drawings to pick more people for the prizes. Here are the original prizes which were going out:

  1. A full set of MegaDo swag
  2. A Fly-for-Cure t-shirt from the MegaDo

The new prizes on board are:

  1. An Admiral’s club day pass, which you could also use to get 100$ off your membership if you signed up there
  2. A oneworld lapel pin

And, like always, I reserve the right to add more goodies to the bag. So go on, and get your chance at this goodie bag by participating here.
