On the occasion of Jet Airways’ 20th anniversary, Jet Airways is offering promotional discounts for their flights originating from Newark, ending into any destination operated by Jet Airways, if you book by the 5th of May 2013 using their US website. Be sure to use the following coupon codes while making the fare search, though I am not sure $20 for a business class ticket (Premiere) is worth it.

For those who live in Europe, there is a different promotion, a flat out 20% off if you book today (May 5) using the Belgian Jet Airways website.

While the Jet Airways  sales came and went over last week, Air India was late to the party of announcing cheaper air fares. However, their fare announcement did not come with an expiry date it seems, and when I checked for some tickets this morning, I could still see that Air India was selling tickets at the new promotional prices they announced last week.

These fares are available for dates of travel beyond 7 days, and up to September 30, and could be booked on www.airindia.in, any travel portal or an offline travel agency. This seems like a good opportunity for those who still have not been able to decide on their plans. If you know your timelines now, you should act on booking these tickets, since I am not sure on how much longer these tickets will exist. You can find all the details here.

I hope you guys have been enjoying the first discount party of 2013, which has been brought to you by Jet Airways, Indigo and Spicejet. I know GoAir joined the party too, but has been patchy, so I haven’t given it a big look. If you want to check out how to make good use of the sale, which exists till February 24, 2013, you should look at this post I wrote a short while back.

Now, with all of them out there, Air India could have not been far behind, right? So, they have announced a fare sale too, and for those of you who cannot find Jet Airways tickets due to whatever reason, you should head to www.airindia.in for your tickets. There are plenty of seats, and though the rules of this sale were not published on the Air India website, as per this report, these are the rules:

So the airline will offer one million seats at lowest fares beginning at Rs 2,150 for a one way ticket compared to Jet Airways’ lowest fare of Rs 2,250.

The fares will be offered in four slabs according to the distance and the highest would be Rs 3,700 for over 1,400 km against Jet’s Rs 3,800.

A senior Air India official said that unlike the fire sale of other airlines, Air India’s low fares would be available only on a 7-day advance purchase, which means if you were to decide to travel on these fares today or tomorrow, they are not available.

AI has put in another condition: it will have what it calls “blackout” periods which means weeks where traffic is traditionally high and during these weeks such low fares would not be available.

Air India also says their sale is valid for travel till September 30, 2013. This sale is available on the travel portals as well, and the availability looks sweet at the moment.

So, make sure you have go book up some!

I thought I bored you guys enough with the barrage of fare sales that hit yesterday. There were one too many: Jet Airways, Indigo and then Spicejet. I know all of you are not being able to get through, so I will try and do the best I can to help you. First, lets go [...]

I’ve had a long day full of meetings, and I’ve been not exactly in front of the computer all day long. So to recap, Jet Airways made the biggest fare sale in recent times this morning, and if you haven’t got in, there is time ahead. Next, Indigo matched it and undercut by a small [...]

Indigo had to do this, after all, how could they let Jet Airways walk away with all the marketshare. Jet Airways announced this morning the biggest airfare sale of the year, with fares at a low of Rs. 2250 all inclusive onwards. In my post on the sale, I presented an example on Mumbai – [...]

I thought 2013 is going to be an interesting year in terms of Indian aviation. There has been a back breaking impact of low fares on Kingfisher Airlines which wounded up last year, which allowed other airlines to bump up ticket prices. However, prices going up meant passengers numbers went down. To beat the heat [...]

I got quite some amount of pushback on the SpiceJet sale that happened last weekend and I thought I’d pen down my thoughts here. I think there were 2 sorts of concerns, firstly about people not being able to find the fare and secondly about the concept of the sale as a whole, with a [...]

It turns out price warrior SpiceJet is not alone in this fare war since this morning where they released tickets for Rs. 2013 all inclusive. Indigo joins in, without advertising the sale on a lot of routes with an all inclusive price of Rs. 2010. I suspect this would last as long as SpiceJet offers [...]

I love SpiceJet sales because they end up making me book tickets when I have no plans to go anywhere. To beat the lean season of travel (February – April 2013), they just unleashed a new promotion this morning which is valid for tickets booked on January 11 – January 13 2013, for travel between [...]

A few days back I wrote about the inaugural fares being offered by Spicejet for their flight to Male (Maldives). While the offer still exists, I was surprised to know today that they were offering a combo fare on that flight, from Mumbai, and maybe other destinations as well. I only found out when a [...]
