Hilton recently launched an India specific website at www.hiltonindia.com. There is a 20% off sale on the site at the moment, if you book your room nights before April 30, 2013 and valid for stays till December 30, 2013. Valid only for advance purchased room rates. Make sure you get the Gold status at the hotel chain for having a shot at upgrades.

 Travelguru is offering a 3rd night complimentary on booking 2 nights at some of the luxurious Oberoi properties around India. These would be the iconic Amarvilas, Rajvilas, Vanyavilas and Udaivilas, and some other metro properties. It says offer valid for a limited period, and seems like one can book till October 31, 2013 at this moment.

There is also a direct booking promotion available with the hotel chain itself at www.oberoihotels.com, however more hotels available via TravelGuru.com. Take your pick.

Like I wrote the other day, Hyatt launched 5 new hotels under the Hyatt brand in India, so if you intend to stay at one of them till August 31, 2013 book with this rate to add free breakfast and internet to your stay.

A few days back I posted about the free Hilton status for Visa Infinite card holders issued in Asia Pacific. A reader, AW, left me a comment which said:

Worked like a charm with my ICICI Jet Airways Sapphiro Visa Card (Visa Signature).

Ah well, I was being lazy and did not try this myself before. So, I pulled out my ICICI issued Visa Signature (the Jet Airways one), and turned out it passes the check. Also, then I checked the same with my Citibank Ultima credit card as well. It again went ahead and asked me to put in my Hilton digits and password. Since I already have status with Hilton, I did not do this bit, but you for sure can try this out. Since it worked with the Signature level cards of two banks, I could guess it’d work with others as well.

The Hilton HHonors Gold status is one step below the Hilton HHonors Diamond status, but has most of the same benefits as the Diamond status. Here is a quick recap of Hilton Gold benefits:

The key benefits are really the space available upgrades which can be good at some hotels, (I was upgraded to a Junior Suite in Washington DC once), and the complimentary breakfast, which is again hit and miss (some hotels offer a full breakfast as well, some would only do bread and juice – as in, real continental breakfast)

Hilton has been offering a free upgrade to Hilton Gold for people who have a Visa Infinite credit card, residing within Asia Pacific, Middle East, Africa or Central Europe, and will continue to do so till 31 May 2013. (Asia Pacific denotes Australia, Hong Kong, China, Korea Singapore, Taiwan, India, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, and Philippines)

Visit this website and create a credit card number, using the Visa Infinite series. All you need is to replace the first 6 digits with 4119 45.

After you have a valid number which is accepted on the database, you need to input your Hilton HHonors details and you will instantly be upgraded.

Hilton has a range of hotels in India, including a lot many in Delhi, and quite a few in other metro cities (Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai). You could look at the directory here. Too bad they had to let go off their name from the iconic Mumbai Nariman Point property which is now a Trident.

Even if you have a stay or a few planned at the Hilton brands in the coming year (and booking directly with the hotel chain), this is a good thing for your benefit. Additionally, you could status match later with some hotel chains using this status.
