I’ve not exactly been up to speed with updating the blog most of last week, since I’ve been all over the place trying to get a few things closed out. But we are back to bringing you the latest and greatest from the Indian points & miles space. Last week, the Citibank PremierMiles website underwent a refresh.

Like I wrote earlier, this was going to be a likely switch to GoIbibo as their partner online travel agent to power the website. This is now done, and you can earn accelerated miles on Citibank’s PremierMiles website, or on GoIbibo.com or on Yatra.com using your Citibank PremierMiles credit card.

With this, there are expectations that did not work out. If you were frustrated with the process to burn your PremierMiles on Jet Airways, you still have to carry on with the process, because queries made using the PremierMiles website still don’t show Jet Airways or JetKonnect flight options. Not that this is great value, but there are people who prefer to use their miles on these trips. Have a look at the same query using PremierMiles and GoIbibo’s own website. If you notice the left hand side bar, on the PremierMiles website Jet Airways does not show up while it does on the GoIbibo website below.

On the other hand, there are many more new partners which are being added to earn the accelerated miles of 10 miles / Rs. 100 spend with Citibank PremierMiles. You can always look up the updated list here, but here are some new additions to name a few:

There are a lot of other partners as well, right from Raymonds for suits to Jabong for online shopping.

A quick reminder for those of you who maybe did not read this post before. Citibank will be performing maintenance on the PremierMiles website from Sunday June 2, 2013 0000 IST to June 4, 2013 2359 IST. This means, for the 72 hours period you will not see the website live and won’t be able to make any travel bookings, redemptions or cancellations to your existing reservations. What is really happening at the backend, common sense says, is a switch of vendor who powered the ticketing (Cleartrip). There may be more changes but I don’t know about these yet.

Anyhow, if you are a Citibank PremierMiles user, and you want to be making any travel reservations or changes to existing ones, it will be a good idea to do so before the night of Saturday June 1, 2013 IST. Also, even if you don’t have any reservations to make, but do have future reservations made via the website, I’d advise you to download/print a copy of those for safekeeping with you just in case these don’t go back up on the website. If you want to have a look at the official FAQs, look here.

If you want to burn your PremierMiles to make reservations during June 2-4, you should head to Goibibo.com which allows for redemption of PremierMiles on their site.

Also, a reminder that after this date, you won’t have any restrictions for the rest of 2013 on earning PremierMiles for booking flight tickets, i.e., it works for more than Rs. 500,000 as well. You’ll also be able to earn 10 PM/100 on hotel and car reservations made via www.premiermiles.co.in.

I’ve been an ardent fan of the Citibank PremierMiles Credit Card. I believe its a secular mileage-earning credit card, and pays you a good amount of miles for your travel spends, specifically airline bookings, and I rate it high up there in my mileage earning CC 101. However, I’ve been disappointed a bit this past [...]

Citibank PremierMiles has been working quietly behind the scenes on getting the product to be competitive. They frequently add earn & burn partners who offer 10 PremierMiles per Rs. 100, instead of the normal 4 PremierMiles per Rs. 100 that all non-airline transactions earn. As a part of this, the newest 10 PremierMiles / Rs. [...]
