Starwood Preferred Guest members can earn 1,000 American Airlines AAdvantage bonus miles for every stay with Sheraton Hotels in North America (US, Canada, and Caribbean) from May 1 through July 31. There is no miles earning limit.

This offer is combinable with free weekend nights, similar to last year’s promotion when Starwood Preferred Guest offered free weekend nights + Starpoints + Northwest/Delta miles for hotel stays.

SPG members may earn American Airlines AAdvantage miles with each Sheraton stay in addition to earning Starpoints and a free weekend night after every three stays. There is no need to change your earning preference to Direct Deposit to earn American AAdvantage miles.

Last year I earned 8 free weekend nights for 16 stays + Starpoints + 16,000 Northwest miles. The advantage of last year’s offer was all Starwood brands qualified for bonus miles. This American Airlines AAdvantage offer is limited to hotel stays at the Sheraton brand.

Sheraton happens to be the Starwood brand with the most hotels at over 400 properties. About 40% of all Starwood Hotels are Sheratons and the brand has more hotels than Westin and Four Points combined, the next largest brands by the numbers.

One nice feature of Sheraton Hotels is the benefit of free breakfast for Platinum members at many properties.

Separate registration is required for AAdvantage miles even if you are already registered for Free Weekend Nights.

Earn 5x miles with Virgin Atlantic Flying Club for two night or longer stays at any Hyatt brand hotel worldwide from May 1 through July 31, 2010.

Award travel between the US and London on Virgin Atlantic is only 50,000 miles for roundtrip economy class travel.

One of the best values for Flying Club miles is a roundtrip USA-London upgrade from Premium Economy to Upper Class for 40,000 miles. This can be a value-added use of miles in the neighborhood of $5,000 for Los Angeles to London.

Hyatt Gold Passport Registration required.

Save 30% off the Hyatt Daily Rate for stays from May 28 to July 5 at Hyatt Place or Hyatt Summerfield Suites. These limited time offer rates are only available for booking through this Friday, May 7.

These rates are great deals, however, they are prepaid and nonrefundable rates and do not allow any changes. AAA rates generally give a 10% to 20% discount and are refundable rates with liberal cancellation policies.

Buyer beware! I am always highly reluctant to book prepaid, nonrefundable stays. Who knows what might happen in your life? An unexpected death in my family this week changed my plans and resulted in several family members losing paid airline tickets and hotel stays when travel plans abruptly changed to deal with this emergency.

I might consider this offer if I had a low-priced Hyatt Place in my neighborhood, but the nearest Hyatt Place to my home is 80 miles away and if I missed just one nonrefundable night at the Hyatt Place Fremont (as low as $51 for weekend nights), then I would give up all the savings compared to the typical AAA cost of four hotel stays at Hyatt Place Fremont ($63 per night).

Still, this is a good limited time offer rate for Hyatt Place and Summerfield Suites hotels.

Here is an analysis of a sample hotel travel plan to maximize the multiple Hyatt promotions currently available and combinable.

1. Earn a free night at any Hyatt brand hotel worldwide after any two stays at a Hyatt brand hotel worldwide (or 5,000 bonus points) with the Big Welcome Back promotion valid for hotel stays through June 30.

2. Earn 3,000 AAdvantage miles per hotel stay for a total of 28,000 miles with six hotel stays by July 5.

Six hotel stays at Hyatt Place Fremont or Hyatt Place Dublin at $55 per night all-in. $330 total.

Earn 28,000 AAdvantage miles + 3 free nights anywhere. Potential value in the neighborhood of $1,500.

Hyatt may have added a new high category award level 6 and moved 20% of its hotels to higher category levels beginning next month, but these promotions still make Hyatt the hotel loyalty program offering members the most incredible promotion incentives for your stays.

Earn up to 60,000 bonus Delta Skymiles this summer at the rate of 5,000 miles for each Marriott brand hotel stay systemwide beginning with your second stay from May 1 through September 6, 2010.

Registration is required with Marriott Rewards.

Important Note: Your earning preference for Marriott Rewards must be set to earn Delta Skymiles. The promotion page will not load correctly unless your Marriott Rewards account is set to miles. The promotion page will show “Promotion is unavailable”. It is a computer cookie thing I guess.

Bonus Skymiles are in addition to the normal miles earning rate of 2 miles per US$1 for J.W. Marriott, Marriott, Renaissance, and Marriott Vacation Club brands.

Courtyard, Fairfield Inn, SpringHill Suites, Residence Inn, and TownePlace Suites brands earn 1 mile per US$1.

60,000 miles for 13 hotel stays is a good deal for someone seeking airline miles with hotel stays.

60,000 Skymiles will buy one roundtrip anytime economy class ticket for continental US and Canada travel, or one low category level economy ticket to Europe or southern South South America, or one Business Class ticket to Central America, Mexico or the Caribbean.

Delta Skymiles award chart link.

Valuing Delta Skymiles at $10.00 per 1,000 miles ($250 for domestic ticket or $600 for Europe/South America) makes this offer effectively a $50 rebate on each Marriott brand hotel stay. And that is a relatively low valuation for miles that can easily be exceeded. Skymile award tickets at the low cost level may be difficult to find for some dates and routes, but like all frequent flier programs there are good values with a bit of flexibility in your travel plans.

A quick check of Europe awards shows mostly medium award level for all summer from San Francisco to Frankfurt, however, the Delta website shows award travel ticket options by month and it is not too difficult to quickly check multiple locations and dates.

International airfare is expected to rise in 2010 and 60,000 miles could prove to be a great value on your Marriott hotel stays.

Assume you spend $1,300 for 13 hotel stays and earn 60,000 miles. The Skymiles could potentially be a $1,000 value in airfare savings.

$1,300 in Marriott hotel spend normally earns as few as 13,000 miles with most airlines for 13 Fairfield Inn stays or possibly around 50,000 to 60,000 Marriott Rewards points with some good bonus opportunities.

Do the math – you can earn points for one or two free hotel nights at a nice hotel or a free ticket to Europe or South America. Well, not exactly free. The taxes for a sample Skymiles San Francisco – Frankfurt economy roundtrip ticket came up at $67.50 for a 60,000 mile award for November 2010.

This offer is a good deal for the budget traveler with frequent hotel stays this summer. You can travel and stay in Marriott brand hotels all summer and load up on the Skymiles for your next trip.
