The new SPG member earns 1,000 bonus Starpoints for each Starwood Hotel stay by February 15, 2013, up to a maximum 5,000 bonus points after 5 hotel stays. Starwood Hotels globally look to be qualifying stays for the 5,000 bonus points based on no restrictions mentioned in the promotion terms and conditions.
Anyone in China considering signing up for Starwood Preferred Guest should locate another SPG member first and get referred. Getting another mainland China resident to refer you to SPG membership allows you to earn 1,000 bonus Starpoints per stay, up to 5,000 bonus points. Those are enough points for an SPG category 5 Cash & Points award for 4,800 points + $90 USD.

Existing member must be a resident of mainland China in order to refer new members; new members must also be a resident of mainland China. Existing members must refer new members by registering and entering their email addresses on the promotion referral page. New member must enroll using the “join now” link in the invitation email, or by contacting the Customer Contact Centre directly at 4008-903-588. New members who enrol based on an existing member’s referral will earn 1,000 bonus Starpoints per stay between 25 October 2012 and 15 February 2013. Existing SPG members, past members whose accounts have expired, and friends or colleagues who have opted out of Starwood Preferred Guest communications are not eligible for this promotion. There are no limits to the number of Starpoints an existing member may earn during the promotion period. New members may earn a maximum of 5,000 bonus Starpoints. Bonus Starpoints will be award within 4–6 weeks of promotion end date. An eligible stay is one or more consecutive nights at the same participating property, regardless of the number of check-ins and checkouts, paying a rate that is eligible to earn Starpoints and that posts to the member’s SPG account.
