Here is a repeat of an October article for Hyatt Gold Passport 5,000 bonus points (rate code = GP5000) on two-night stays at 27 hotels in the west.  

During the past two weeks I have used this offer twice. The remarkable aspect of this special offer available through December 30 is the rate was lower than any other rate, even AAA, on both of my stays.

In combination with the Great 10K offer for 10,000 points every 5 nights through December 15, the two 2-night stays earned 9,000 bonus points per 2-night stay.

Arrival Requirements for Hilton Any Weekend Anywhere Offer

These are important terms when planning travel for this offer.

Arrival Requirements for Participating Hotels:

Middle East and Egypt: Must arrive on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday. Wednesday arrivals are allowed with a two (2) night minimal length of stay. 

Europe, Africa, and Asia Pacific region: Must arrive on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Thursday arrivals are allowed with a two (2) night minimal length of stay. 

North and South America: Must arrive on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Thursday arrivals are allowed with a two (2) night minimal length of stay. Embassy Suites provides this exemption: Arrivals on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday are allowed at participating Embassy Suites hotels with a four (4) night minimal length of stay.

Other Restrictions:

Hilton Grand Vacations: Participating hotels require a three (3) night minimal length of stay regardless the day of arrival. “Breakfast included” offer applies to all participating hotels except Hilton Grand Vacations hotels.

Homewood Suites and Home2 Suites: Maximum length of stay is four (4) nights.

Double Base Points looks like an afterthought to this analyst. The only reference to double base points comes at the end of the Hilton offer Terms & Conditions page.

There is no reference to Double Base Points in the images for the promotion as the three image slideshow for this offer opens with London hotels as the default page.

The Americas tab has a different image and also does not mention double base points.

Loyalty Traveler opinion:

Prepaid, full nonrefundable travel deals are gambling on life events with a bet that everything goes as planned. I have lost a couple of thousand dollars on those bets.  

Consider trip insurance if investing more than a few hundred dollars on a single trip just in case you have to cancel due to circumstances like illness, injury, death, disasters and strikes.

Hilton Sorrento Palace Hotel Webpage

The “quadruple family room” is actually a good size room for a family at nearly 500 square feet and a rate under $200 per night.  This category 6 hotel at a desirable Hilton location in Italy is 80,000 points for a two night stay reward. This Any Weekend Anywhere 50% BAR promotional rate with breakfast may be a better value than spending points.

They are back! I took advantage of some $52.80 nights last December during a stay in Denver using Mile High Holidays rates. All the major hotel brands participate with offers from Hilton, Hyatt, IHG, Marriott and Starwood.

This is a great opportunity for a mattress run for elite and free night promotions with IHG and Marriott both offering a free night after two stays. Check out my page “Current Hotel Loyalty Promotions” to sign up for current promotion offers.

Downtown Denver hotels like Marriott Denver City Center at $60.64 after tax for tonight, Friday, December 3.

Hyatt Regency and Grand Hyatt are $99 on many nights (Dec 17 for example) and SPG is giving double stay elite credit for aloft and element hotel stays with rates around $75.

Preferred Hotels Group has a Stay Longer Winter Campaign discount for I Prefer members offering 10% off Best Available Rate (BAR) for one night, 20% off BAR for two nights and 30% off BAR nightly rate for stays of three or more nights at 70 hotels wordwide. Rate code is MKTSL. Non-members can register for I Prefer loyalty membership when booking these rates.

There are some big savings on several properties I checked around the U.S. like Beaver Creek Lodge Colorado with rates normally around $200 per night dropping to the $120 to $140 range for three night stays.

US$65 per night for a suite at Vista Real Hotel Guatemala for a 3-night stay Jan 11-14 is an example of the kinds of deals available. These are not prepaid, nonrefundable rates. The Vista Real Hotel is cancellable up to day before arrival.

Omni Hotels has a CyberMonday special for $99 rooms at hotels across the US and Canada for stays from Nov 29 through Jan 31, 2011. Must book by 9pmCST Monday Nov 29. Promotion page states 999 rooms are available at the $99 rate.

These rates were easily found at several hotels I checked in the past hour (9amPST) and the rates do not require prepayment and may be canceled up to day of arrival for hotels I checked.

This CyberMonday deal is the real deal with great opportunities for good rate discounts.

Are you in the vacation market for a $700 per night suite at the St. Regis Bahia Beach Resort in Puerto Rico with a $60 daily resort fee additional? The AAA rate is $1,040 for the same dates, so this sale is like a 3-for-2 nights deal.

W Retreat & Spa Vieques Island, Puerto Rico for $269 per night + $65.40 daily resort fee (9% tax on top of the resort fee) instead of the $399 AAA rate (although AAA rate includes a $100 resort credit per stay).

Starwood Resorts Cyber-Monday Sale

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Cyber-Monday sale is available for online bookings at discount rates for just 27 resorts in the U.S., Canada and Caribbean until 11:59pmEST Monday, November 29 for hotel stays from January 1, 2011 through April 30, 2011. You can also call 866-716-8147 and ask for rate DOORLTO.

The St. Regis Aspen during ski season at $400 per night Deluxe room is available on a few select dates for a minimum 3-night stay (15 nights in all are currently showing during early January and late March) when the AAA rate for this room category is $688. This sale may be a real bargain for you. Although, you can just buy 20,000 points for $580 and redeem for one free night and save over $200 on the AAA rate currently showing. After the 10% tax the Cyber-Monday sale rate is $140 less than buying points for a free night, but of course you get stay credit and points with a CyberMonday paid rate.

If your tastes run more to the Walt Disney Dolphin or Westin Bayshore Vancouver, then I’d suggest holding out and taking your chances for Cash & Points nights or another discount sale that does not require a far in advance prepaid, nonrefundable rate. The savings did not seem overly impressive at these locations. I stayed at the Walt Disney Dolphin (Loyalty Traveler hotel review) during March 2010 on Cash & Points over a weekend for $60 and 4,000 points per night.

I spent about an hour looking at hotel rates in a variety of places and while there are some lower rates for Starwood hotels than what show up on AAA or other promotions, the overall discounts are rather underwhelming for most properties I checked. The best deals are for the highest priced resorts like St. Regis and W Hotels.

These rates do not qualify for Wyndham Rewards points or miles.

Looking at New York City, Miami and San Francisco I found the rates were not available for many Ramada properties on dates I checked.  Rates are significantly lower than AAA and advance purchase nonrefundable rates at Ramada Hotels where this special offer rate is available.

An additional benefit to the big rate discount with the “Just for You” 50% off rate promotion is a liberal ‘day of arrival’ cancellation policy with no penalty for hotels I checked.

The wording of this promotion ‘combined’ with the promotion display shown here is confusing.

This appears to show there is actually no additional promotion bonus for a one-night stay since 1,000 goldpoints is what any goldpoints plus loyalty program member earns when booking a Carlson Hotel online. And 2,000 points is what a goldpoints elite member normally earns for booking online.

On a 2-night stay does the general goldpoints member get an additional 2,000 points bonus while the elite member only gets an additional 1,000 points bonus on top of the online booking bonus?

Or do all goldpoints members earn 3,000 bonus points in addition to the online booking bonus?

Goldpoints plus customer service had me on hold so long that obviously the terms are confusing on their end too. The Terms and Conditions of this promotion do not even match the promotion webpage advertisement. The webpage ad states this offer is valid for stays through December 28, yet the terms and conditions fine print states December 15.

Did anyone from goldpoints plus proofread the details of this offer?

Bottom line: There is a goldpoints bonus for extended stays in EMEA region. You will find out exactly how it works once you have earned the bonus.

Patrick Sojka of FrequentFlyerBonuses.com or Superdawg on FlyerTalk posted a Marriott Rewards instant Gold elite upgrade on Friday, Nov 19. Air China Phoenix Miles members can receive Marriott Gold Elite instantly through February 28, 2011 with a one year membership extension to February 2012 after 12 nights at Marriott brand hotels within 90 days.

Loyalty Traveler analysis:

Gold elite with Marriott is normally a 50-night affair so these offers of 8 and 12 nights within 90 days are true fast-track to Gold elite deals.

Marriott is one of the more difficult programs to earn elite status with only paid nights stayed during a calendar year considered for elite qualification. One of the nicer features of Marriott Gold elite is free internet, lounge access and breakfast on weekdays at full-service hotels.

Obviously the 8 nights to retain Gold elite through 2012 is the easier threshold.

My only reluctance with the HSBC Premier offer is whether there will be a check of Marriott Rewards members with HSBC Premier membership. There probably will not be a membership check. But if this offer goes viral there could always be a purge of members who are not affiliated with HSBC or Air China Phoenix Miles. 

Since I already signed up through the Air China link and my Marriott Rewards membership has been upgraded to Gold elite from that offer, the 8 night HSBC Premier deal is out for me anyway.
