Priority Club launches a summer campaign tomorrow for Double Points or Double Miles from June 1 through July 31, 2013.

Double points or miles begins with second stay at an InterContinental, Crowne Plaza, Hotel Indigo and Holiday Inn Express and Holiday Inn brands.

Double points begins with first stay at IHG’s two extended stay brands: Staybridge Suites and Candlewood Suites. These two brands normally earn only 5 points per dollar or 1 mile per dollar which is 50% of the other IHG brands, so this works out to be 10 points/$1 or 2 miles/$1 on first stay. This recurring promotion incentivizes members for a stay at Staybridge or Candlewood to kick off this summer offer by offering the same level of points you will earn with any other IHG brand. Then you are incentivized to stay at the other brands from your second stay onward for the rest of the promotion.

Registration is required for this 2x points/miles promotion in advance of your stays.

This offer is valid at IHG brand hotels worldwide.

Must be a Priority Club® Rewards member and must register member number in advance to participate in this promotion. Bonus points or miles will be awarded from the second qualifying stay between 1 June 2013 and 31 July 2013 unless otherwise stated in the Double Points/Double Miles Promotion Terms and Conditions. A stay is defined as one night or consecutive nights at the same hotel, regardless of frequency of check-in/out. A stay is qualified when paying qualifying rates, which include most business and leisure rates.

Earn 2x points until August 31 in Europe.

And if your summer plans include Europe, then you can earn double points for midweek stays June 17 – August 31, 2013 by registering for this Priority Club Reward Yourself offer. This offer is valid for bookings made by July 31 at participating hotels in western Europe. The list of countries and participating hotels can be seen in drop down menus on the promotion page.

Conclusion: Double points or miles is a standard recurring promotion from IHG Priority Club.

Bonus points are always nice on IHG stays, but it looks like the grand hotel bonus promotions of 2009-2011 have faded into loyalty memories.

The first full weekend of April means IHG Rewards Club Last Minute Reward Nights. (I am practicing the new loyalty program name.)

The list is small with 59 hotels globally and 44 of these in the USA. InterContinental Hotels in Greece, Egypt, Mexico and Panama are on this weekend’s list.

Last Minute Reward Nights are 50% the standard reward price and only available for three nights: Friday April 5; Saturday April 6; and Sunday April 7.

FlyerTalk has an IHG Priority Club thread called “IC Master Promo Thread 2013”. This thread posts current registration codes for Priority Club bonus points.

Priority Club frequent guest members refer to the stackable bonuses for hotel stays as one of the best features of the loyalty program; a program that has few defined benefits for elite members compared to other major hotel loyalty programs.

There is a note on the Stay x, earn y bonus points post I had not noticed before now. Read More…

Priority Club Rewards is making loyalty program changes. Besides the name change from Priority Club Rewards to  IHG Rewards Club, there are some additional new benefits of the program to debut in July 2013.

  • Free internet to all elite members beginning July 2013 and all IHG Rewards Club members starting in 2014.
  • Fast-track to elite status by staying in three different IHG brands – no details yet.
  • Reward nights count for elite status.
  • Platinum elite members extra nights ‘rollover’.

Purchased points are non-elite qualifying points.

In years past the purchase of points with these offers counted as elite qualifying points. I earned Priority Club top tier Platinum status in 2011 buying points.

While I thought this current sale was a good opportunity to get a fast-track to Platinum elite in 2013 buying 60,000 points for $460, the purchase of points no longer qualifies as elite qualifying points.

Now you may be thinking, “That change happened way back in January, so why is Loyalty Traveler just figuring this out now?”

John at LoyaltyLobby reported in January that his points purchase posted as elite qualifying points. Two weeks ago he posted again that the points purchase he made in January did not post as elite qualifying points.

Points & Cash Awards allow the purchase of 10,000 points for $70.

The workaround for buying Priority Club points is to book Points & Cash awards and then cancel them. Read More…

Since Priority Club does not include geographic descriptors on the listings the best way to check your state or country is use the filter on the Priority Club page to sort hotels by location. Read More…

February 2013 has hotel loyalty program members wondering where the good promotions are this year. Hyatt Gold Passport has kept members low and dry so far. Award cost increases to SPG Cash & Points and Priority Club reassignment raising hundreds of hotels in popular destinations by 40% leaves a foreboding mood for the typical hotel award reassignments coming in 2013 for SPG and Marriott hotels globally.

Good news is Club Carlson has a triple points promotion and Best Western Rewards offers its US and Canada members one free night after three stays.

Wyndham Rewards offers 25% bonus points for purchases in the month of February 2013. $440 = 50,000 Wyndham Rewards points = 20,000 miles in several airline programs. Read More…

Friday is February 1 and the first full weekend of the month means Priority Club Last Minute Reward Nights available for three nights, Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 47 select hotels for 50% points. There are 25 hotels in the USA and 22 hotels international participating this month.

UNITED STATES (25 hotels)

California

The latest batch of Priority Club PointBreaks hotels for 5,000 points per award night posted today for award stays through March 31, 2013. This list looks weak to me for hotels in USA and Europe near where I plan to be the next couple of months. Unless I decide to head to Palm Springs and Joshua Tree National Park and I want a cheap hotel stay in Banning, California.

Perhaps your travels take you someplace where one or more of these hotels will be useful discount.

There are 25 participating hotels outside the Americas, 4 hotels in Mexico and South America, 3 hotels in Canada and 57 hotels in the USA.

The links below go directly to the hotel’s booking page. These hotels are capacity controlled and drop off the list once rooms allocated for Priority Club PointBreaks are booked out.
