Le Club Accorhotels members can earn 4x miles with Delta Skymiles or 3x miles with Aeroplan (Air Canada) for stays through April 15, 2013. 

4x Delta Miles means 8,000 miles for 4,000 LeClubAccorhotels points. 4,000 Accor points have a fixed value of $120 or 80 EUR as hotel stay credits. 8,000 miles for $120 is a good buy if this were a straight purchase of miles.

February 2013 has hotel loyalty program members wondering where the good promotions are this year. Hyatt Gold Passport has kept members low and dry so far. Award cost increases to SPG Cash & Points and Priority Club reassignment raising hundreds of hotels in popular destinations by 40% leaves a foreboding mood for the typical hotel award reassignments coming in 2013 for SPG and Marriott hotels globally.

Good news is Club Carlson has a triple points promotion and Best Western Rewards offers its US and Canada members one free night after three stays.

Sofitel Hotels has a 3rd night free rate offer for stays from November 15 to January 15, 2013 they call the Winter Collection Rate. This special offer rate includes a complimentary chocolate buffet one day of your stay and a 3pm late checkout.

The 3rd night free rate is based on the Best Flexible Rate or typically called the Premium Rate on Accor’s website. The 33% discount is generally the best deal for hotels I checked, where the 3-for-2 rate could be located, compared to the 15-Day Advance Purchase discount of 20% to 30% for the Sofitel Hotel.

The Sofitel Winter Collection rate is prepaid and nonrefundable. The main advantage of this rate is a slightly greater discount and a 3-day advance purchase rate compared to the 15-day advance purchase rate normally offering the deepest discount.

Sofitel Hotels are a global luxury brand of Accor Hotels. There are a handful of Sofitel properties in the USA in locations like Beverly Hills, Miami, Chicago, New York, Washington D.C., Philadelphia and Minneapolis. The San Francisco Bay Area Sofitel property is convenient for Oracle headquarters, but 20 miles south outside the city of San Francisco if you are a tourist.

September is a transition month in promotions for several major hotel chains.

New promotions for September and October hotel stays have been announced by a majority of the major hotel chains, including Best Western Rewards, Choice Privileges, Club Carlson, Hyatt Gold Passport, Marriott Rewards and Starwood Preferred Guest.

Le Club Accor Hotels Gold and Platinum elites will receive a welcome amenity and free breakfast for two when redeeming a Le Club Accor hotel voucher for a stay at Accor Hotels in the USA and Canada during the month of August.

This offer requires the Le Club Accor member to redeem at least one hotel stay voucher to pay for the Accor hotel stay. Voucher must be presented at time of hotel check-in to qualify for this promotion.

2,000 Accor points can be redeemed for a USD$60 voucher. This offer applies whether you use one voucher or multiple vouchers to pay for the hotel stay.

Accor Hotels seems to me to be more about regional discount rates and local loyalty bonuses rather than global promotions offered by most major hotel loyalty promotions.

Le Club Accorhotels requires work to dive into all those promotions and the limited availability of hotels in the USA for this loyalty program places it on the backburner for me.

Free elite membership was passed around for the launch of Le Club Accorhotels. I was looking at my LeClub Accorhotels Platinum card and wondering if I will even sleep in a member hotel bed before the card expires.

Now if I had global travel planned, then the hotel rate discount offers would motivate me to check Accor Hotels website offers more frequently.

This post is for travelers getting beyond the USA borders. Some of these hotel prices might make you think again about going downscale from the category 6 and 7 hotels in US-based hotel loyalty programs that dot European cities and international beach resorts.

Or you might find upscaling to an Accor budget hotel room is within your financial means when that hostel, B&B or couchsurfing scene gets too social.
