Lufthansa has started a brief Business Class Fare sale that ends on February 4. As with past Business Class fare sales, savings amount to about 40-50% when compared to a “regularly” priced Business Class ticket.
From New York to most destinations in Europe, the fares range from $2800 to $3000. From Chicago, fares range from $3200 to $3400 and from San Francisco, $3700 to $3900. These fares are a bit higher than usual for a Business Class sale, but with cost of fuel and inflation in general seem to be appropriate.
Terms and Conditions of the offer:
Tickets must be purchased by February 4, 2013
You must depart between March 24 and April 5, 2013
You must return between March 31 and April 10.
Advance Purchase: 28 days.
Flights can be operated by Air Canada, Swiss, Lufthansa, Austrian or United.
Saturday night stay is required.
If you are going to book a ticket, please be mindful of the carrier who will operate the flight. I suggest you make sure that Lufthansa, Swiss or Austrian are going to be your carriers!
AND with a little of planning, you could find yourself aboard Lufthansa’s 747-8i or certain Airbus A330 that have the new Business Class interior installed!!
For more information on the fare sale, and additional fares between city pairs, please visit the Fare Sale Webpage.

FIRST OFF, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!
now for the rest of the story…..
Lufthansa is currently offering discount travel vouchers that can be redeemed on Lufthansa operated flights worldwide. Normally these voucher offers tend to be limited to Europe, but in this case the vouchers are available from most countries that Lufthansa serves.
The value of the vouchers vary slightly between countries and are denominated in local currencies. For example, someone in Europe requesting a voucher will get one for €20, someone booking travel from the USA will receive $40 and someone in Hong Kong will receive a voucher valued at HKD$450.
The voucher applies to the base or tariff fare and does not affect the taxes and fees for the ticket. The voucher can be redeemed for travel until 10 March. Travel must be completed by 10 June.
Please note that when you look at the terms and conditions, it may appear that the code is good until October, but Lufthansa uses the European format for dates: DD/MM/YYYY.
To request a voucher please use this link. Once providing Lufthansa with your name and email address, a voucher code will be immediately emailed to you and you can apply that code when booking travel on Lufthansa.com.

During their current Winter Fare Sale, Lufthansa and Swiss have some of the lowest fares that I’ve ever seen between Moscow and New York. Granted, Moscow may not be the most popular winter destination but for fares that range between $460 and $500, its a very attractive opportunity. These sub-$500 fares were readily available throughout February and March.
Sometimes with fare sales, you need to be mindful of the airline operating the flights. Many times the lowest fares offered by Lufthansa are for flights operated by United or Air Canada and you miss out on the great Lufthansa, Swiss or Austrian hospitality while onboard. However in this case, most of the Moscow fares are for flights that will actually be operated by either Lufthansa, Swiss or Austrian, making the experience that much better!
As part of this fare sale, other cities throughout Europe are included and the prices range from $700-$1000 which is typical for this time of year. The Moscow fare is the really attractive one out of all the options. Just be mindful that the miles earned for this fare will generally be 50% of the actual miles flow.
To take advantage of the fare, please click here to be take to Lufthansa’s Fare Sale.
Terms/Conditions of this offer:
Ticket must be purchased by January 10, 2013
You must depart between January 5 and March 20, 2013
You must return between January 7 and April 20, 2013
Advance Purchase: 7 days.
Maxium Stay: 1 Month.
Weekend Departure/Arrival surcharges may apply.

In their Holiday spirit, Lufthansa has announced a fare sale that lasts from this coming Friday to Sunday (14-16 December) that will cover 1,000,000 round-trip tickets. The fares will be valid for travel between 1 February and 30 April for Lufthansa flights that originate in Germany. Most of the fares range between €99 to €139 and cover all of Lufthansa’s European and German destinations so there are plenty of options available to you. For example, Hamburg to Moscow is only €119 and Dusseldorf to Paris is only €99.
This offer is a great way to get a cost effective head start on your spring travel plans. Just keep in mind that tickets have to be purchased between this coming Friday and Sunday.
I did search for fares tonight, and it looks like the sale fares are already loaded into the system and are available for booking now, so you may be able to get a head start on the promotion.

Lufthansa is currently offering attractive First Class airfares from the USA to European destinations. The most attractive fare is for travel to London (Approx. $4900 from the east coast). However, in many instances the flights to or from London are operated by United. There are some limited options to fly Lufthansa First Class to London through Germany, but not many. So be careful if you decide to take advantage of the low London fare, make sure you’re aware of who is operating the flight!
Otherwise, most fares from the East Coast to Europe range from the mid-$6000 to mid-$7000 range. From the West Coast, most fares range from the low-$7000 to low-$8000 range.
Lufthansa’s First Class service is among the best among in the world, and it’s never a bad idea to experience it, especially when you can book a seat for 30-50% less than the normal first class fare. I’ve experienced their First Class product many times, and each time it’s been a wonderful experience. With the introduction of a “renovated” First Class cabin on most long haul aircraft, it only gets better! In addition to the great inflight experiences, Lufthansa also knows how to take care of their First Class passengers on the ground.
For more fare options and booking information, please visit Lufthansa’s First Class Fare Sale webpage.
Terms and Conditions for the Fare Sale:
Tickets must be purchased by December 7
You must depart between December 22 and January 4.
You must return between December 25 and January 8.
Advance Purchase Period: 28 days.
First Class seating available on Lufthansa, Swiss and United (You’ll see that Lufthansa says that First Class is available on Austrian and Air Canada but they do not offer a first class cabin, so keep that in mind when reviewing options).
Saturday night stay required.

Lufthansa has discounted fares for travel between European destinations between Christmas and New Year’s. The fares are several Euro cheaper than their normal rates and start as low as €99. The best fares seem to be for Italian destinations with Rome and Milan as well as Paris and Vienna (depending on which German city you depart from). These fares allow for a great side trip if you already are going to be in Europe!
I always enjoy travelling to Europe during the holiday season because you tend to find the best air fares of the year during this time period AND you get to experience fantastic hospitality. During December, many cities and towns host their Holiday Markets where visitors can take in local culture, crafts and culinary specialities. Having a glass of Spiced/Mulled Wine, a fresh Bratwurst and a piece of Gingerbread goes a long way in taking the chill out of a winter day!
To see the entire list of eligible routes for this fare sale, please visit Lufthansa’s Fare Sale Website.

Announced today, Lufthansa will add it’s 10th North American destination from Munich when it begins daily non-stop service between Munich and Vancouver.
The route is scheduled to begin on May 16, 2013 and will operate on a daily basis. This will complement the existing daily flight from Frankfurt.
The Munich-Vancouver flight will operate as LH476 departing Munich(MUC) at 15:30 (3:30p) and arriving in Vancouver(YVR) at 17:05 (5:05p local time).
The Vancouver-Munich return flight will operate as LH477 departing Vancouver at 18:45 (6:45p local time) and arriving in Munich at 14:00 (2:00p) the following afternoon.
Currently, this new flight is part of Lufthansa’s current fare sale involving flights FROM Germany to North America and is available for booking. The current fare is €663 for tickets booked by November 20, for travel between May 16 and 31.
The route will be flown by a 3-class Airbus A330. It may be too early to tell if it will be flown by a new or retrofitted A330 showcasing Lufthansa’s new cabin interiors. Munich has a significant part of its long haul fleet already retrofitted with the new interior but I’m not sure if this route will have it. I’ll pass along that information once I find out for myself!

Lufthansa has started a fare sale that lasts until November 8 for travel between November 1 and December 12. Fares from New York to Germany are among the lowest for this offer with fares ranging between $640 and $750. The best fare that I find for this sale is the $540.00 fare in place for Chicago-Istanbul AND it’s on Lufthansa Aircraft. Sometimes the low fares involve a non-Lufthansa carrier but not in this case. At $540 to Istanbul, it’s cheaper than flying to some parts within the US and is attractive enough for even a long weekend to Istanbul. I visited Istanbul earlier this year, and would recommend it to anyone!
Fares from other gateways in the US to Europe range from $700-800 from the East Coast and $1000-1100 from the West Coast. These fares are generally in line with what is typical for this time of year. With the Holiday Market season beginning at the end of November, these fares should make it tempting to visit Europe at this time of year. I’ve been to the Christmas Market in Nuremberg and look forward to visiting Vienna’s this year!
