Suntrust Delta accounts

Posted on: April 21st, 2011 by: jason

The friendly people at the Suntrust Bank in Hilton Head that helped us all open our Delta Suntrust checking accounts are no longer there.

I was waiting till the summer to ensure they got their commissions, but having heard this news, I am going to go ahead and close them. I just wanted to pass this information on.

Last week for the Delta Airlines Suntrust deal

If you are planning on taking advantage of the Delta Suntrust deal, you will need to act really fast.

To recap:

1. Open a personal checking account for a $55 fee and receive 15,000 Delta Skymiles ($100 minimum deposit)

2. Open a business checking account for a $55 fee and receive 25,000 Delta Skymiles. You can also add 4 authorized users for $55 each and additional 25,000 Skymiles each. ($1,000 minimum deposit to avoid $10 a month fees)

You do not need to be a resident of a state that Suntrust is in and your business does not need to be in the state that Suntrust is in either.

If you are interested, you will need to call Hilton Head Island Suntrust Bank and ask for Kris or Megan at 843-341-3101. You will need to have all paperwork in by December 17th and the opening deposits in by the 31st.

I had both of my accounts open in one day.

A busy end to the year

As this year of 2010 draws to a close, there has been a flurry of activity in the last month.

Currently I’m doing the following activities:

  • Daily Foursquare check in to both Holiday Inn and Hilton
  • Spending $25 on all of our American Express cards at small business to get the statement credit
  • Spending the $25 bonus on all three of the American Express Pass cards (this one was targeted)
  • Making purchases on six Suntrust debit cards (1 personal and 5 business) for myself, my wife, and my mom
  • Continuing to get gold coins into circulation throughout the community
  • Reaching for the final $4000 spend left on the American Express Platinum Delta card to get the 10,000 MQMs for rollover MQMs for 2011.
  • Making 5 debit cards purchases on our Continental Chase bank accounts per month
  • Spending $1000 in 3 months on the brand new American Express Platinum card for 50,000 Membership Reward Points

As I look at this list, I see that this hobby has turned into an obsession that is reaping huge rewards. I am learning some many things from others in the frequent flyer community as well as learning to maximize the offers out there.

As our frequent flyer mileage balances continue to grow, I get excited about all of the places I’ve never been and will be able to visit with no to low cost.

I also wanted to thank all of the readers out there who have been passing along tips.

As I look to the year 2011, I am truly humbled at the opportunity I have to work at a job I love with a loving, supporting family who allows me to dabble in this hobby. I wish to each of you that your 2011 will be the best year for your hotel and airline mileage balances.

  • Delta Suntrust Bank deal is almost done

Posted on: December 1st, 2010 by: jason

If you’re planning on getting Delta Skymiles for opening up Suntrust Bank accounts, you’ll need to hurry.

Frugal Travel Guy has done a ton of work to make this deal very smooth.

Today I called Megan at Suntrust at 843-341-3101 and the process could not have been easier.

    To recap:
Each Business Debit card is $55 for 25000 miles, and the Personal Debit card is $20 for 7500 miles or $55 for 15000 miles.

You can add four additional users to the Business account for $55 each for 25000 additional miles per user.

The minimum funding amount for the Business account is $1000 (there is a $10 fee if you fall below this amount per month). The Personal account is $100.

The Sky miles will post to your account within 6-8 weeks after your first Signature purchase.

Total cost for me will be $330 for 140,000 Delta Skymiles.

Suntrust account opening for 15,000 or 25,000 Skymiles

Suntrust has their account opening bonuses live again.

I did this deal last year and it was quite easy. On top of the Skymiles, I also received two Skyclub passes per account plus a $100 bonus for signing up for billpay on the personal accounts and paying 3 bills per month.

A easy way to add more Skymiles.

10,000 Delta Skymiles with checking account

Posted on: April 13th, 2010 by: jason

SunTrust is giving away 10,000 Delta Skymiles for opening up a checking account with them. It will cost you $55 for your Platinum check card.

While not as lucrative as the 15,000 Delta Skymiles offer from last year, it may be worthwhile if you’re a Delta flier.

The terms and conditions state that you must be a resident of AL, AR, FL, GA, MD, MS, NC, SC, TN, VA, WV, and DC. However, a reader indicated that they were able to sign up for the deal without residing in one of those states. YMMV.

More sweetness for the Suntrust Delta deal

Posted on: February 16th, 2010 by: jason

Last year, Suntrust bank was giving 15,000 Skymiles for opening up a checking account – all for $55.

I opened up a personal and business account to get the 30,000 Skymiles for $110. I did the same for my wife.

    The deal just got sweeter.

I received four Delta Sky Club one day passes in the mail – one for each account we opened. These will come in very handy on our upcoming International Trip.

Now – Suntrust is offering to give you $100 if you enroll and use online bill pay three times each month for three consecutive months.

    Let’s do the math:
    30,000 Skymiles for me
    30,000 Skymiles for my wife

    $100 bonus – $55 account fee = $45
    $100 bonus – $55 account fee = $45
    $100 bonus – $55 account fee = $45
    $100 bonus – $55 account fee = $45

Total: 60,000 Skymiles, $180 in cash, and 4 Delta Sky Club passes.
