As I speculated this weekend, it looks like the rumor is confirmed and the Radisson Big Night Giveaway is back!
As the landing page suggests, registration will open in a little over seven days – at midnight Eastern on May 15th. Last time I stayed up until midnight Eastern (Tweeting along with other miles and points junkies the whole time), but registration stayed for what seemed like weeks after that, so the slumber party wasn’t really necessary. Though I still may do it again just to be safe – especially since properties world wide now seem to be eligible.
The landing page has limited info, but according to this Flyertalk thread (the same thread who brought us the initial speculation), here are some possible terms and conditions:
The Big Night Giveaway Promotion (“Promotion”) is available only to Club Carlson members. To be eligible for the Promotion, members must register online for the Promotion at http://www.radissonbignightgiveaway.com (“Promotion Registration”), provide their Club Carlson member number at the time of reservation or check-in of the Qualifying Stay, and then complete one Qualifying Stay at any Radisson or Radisson Blu hotel worldwide (“Participating Hotels”). Guest must check in for the Qualifying Stay on or after May 15, 2012 and check out must be completed no later than July 15, 2012 (“Promotion Period”). A “Qualifying Stay” is defined as a stay of one or more consecutive nights in the same room at a Participating Hotel regardless of the number of check-ins or check-outs on a rate for which Gold Points are awarded in accordance with the Club Carlson Program Terms and Conditions.
Guest must be present at the Participating Hotel at both the time of check-in and check-out, enrolled in Club Carlson at or before the time of check-in, and registered in the Promotion no later than the time of check-out (to enroll in Club Carlson, visit www.clubcarlson.com). The first 100,000 guests who complete the Promotion Registration will receive 50,000 Bonus Gold Points after the completion of their Qualifying Stay. After the first 100,000 Promotion Registrations, every guest who completes the Promotion Registration will receive 15,000 Bonus Gold Points after the completion of his/her Qualifying Stay. These Bonus Gold Points are in addition to the standard Gold Points awarded for a stay. Only one Club Carlson account per Qualifying Stay will be credited with the Bonus Gold Points.
Maximum of one Bonus Gold Point award will be credited to a member with a Qualifying Stay under the Promotion regardless of the number of Qualifying Stays completed by the member during the Promotion Period. Allow 6-8 weeks for the Bonus Gold Points to post to the member’s account. The Promotion and Gold Points are subject to all Club Carlson Program Terms and Conditions. Rates for each night of a Qualifying Stay may vary. Promotion is not valid on existing reservations and is subject to availability.
I can’t swear those are the exact terms, but this thread seems to be correct more often than it is wrong, so I’m betting this is pretty much correct. The highlights that I see in terms are:
- You must check-in and check-out in person
- Limited to first 100,000 to register
- One bonus per Club Carlson account
- Not valid on existing reservations
- Valid on stays May 15 – July 15
- Stay at any Radisson or Radisson Blu Worldwide (last time as just the US, Canada, and the Caribbean)
This is a fantastic promotion, and I know I turned my approximately $100 stay into hundreds of dollars worth of redemptions in Europe for an upcoming trip. Since there is no Radisson Hotel where I live, I will have to be strategic about how to best participate in the promo this year and align it with some of my other travel plans. At least we have a couple months time frame to work with here. More details and earning/redeeming info to come soon! As a redemption warm-up, here is their award chart. As you can see, 50,000 points can get you a Club Carlson room anywhere in the world, or it can potentially get you several nights at the lower levels. If you aren’t already a Club Carlson member, you can join here and get 4,500 bonus points (must do so by May 31st).

Great promotion. I’ll be very happy if indeed this time it’s open for stays across the world as I am mostly located in TLV and was planning a short TLV-BER-TLV anyway for may 17-19:)
The local Radisson we stayed in last time for this promo is no longer a Radisson, so it will take more planning and effort this time around. However, it still might be worth it. We haven’t used any of our 100k+ points yet, but doubling our balance would mean we could spend 4+ nights at one of their nicest properties for free. Definitely worth it not to have to change hotels on a short trip with 2 little kids!

Probably a silly question, but to clarify, can the stay qualify under the other brands of Radisson (Country Inns, Park Inn, Park Plaza) or specifically Radisson and Radisson Blu branded Hotels?
We lost our local Radisson as well near my home and trying to find a potential stay nearby.
I guess, Radisson friend and family rate won’t be eligible right.

Mommy, did you stay at the Radisson in Austin to meet last year’s requirements? I have a rewards stay in early June in Austin and I’m thinking of cancelling it in favor of the Radisson in downtown. I have two nights there, so I’m thinking of splitting the stay into two nights, one under my name and another one under my wife’s to shoot for 100,000 points. I was wondering if you have a review of this hotel as I vaguely recall you mentioning it before, but with a quick search I couldn’t find it on your site.

Unless they are over 18 of course. I am sure others have found ways to play with this, but I keep things simple and will just do it for my husband and myself.

@Duc, it has to be a rate that is eligible to earn points, so Friends and Family is a no-go (or at least that was how it worked last time).
@Michael, thanks for helping out and while I thought I had reviewed the Radisson Hotel in Austin, I can’t find it either so perhaps I just mentioned it but didn’t review it. I will put it back on the “to do” list since I am sure at least a few folks will stay there because of this. In a nutshell, it was fine for a night, but not my favorite. I really like the Hyatt Regency and Westin in Austin so I wasn’t thrilled to be somewhere else. Will post more on it soon though.
Looks like they are revising the rules to do away with the phantom check-ins they allowed last year? Does not help me, with no actual Radissons in the KC metro. I’ll have to watch FT to see if they honor phantoms this time.

Radisson Hotel San Diego-Rancho Bernardo – last year, I booked 1 night for my wife and I (2 rooms) for about $90/night for each room (if memory serves me correct). We’ll do that again this year. It’s close to where we live, and not too much of a hassle to return the following morning to check-out (we have a 2yr old, and I have no interest in spending the night!)
Update on my previous post (#16) – I checked the folio and in fact it was $66.75 per room.
