Update: I am now seeing many matches on this sale – including from United on some routes, so now is the time to book some fall flights!

Just a super quick post to make sure you are aware of a major Southwest and AirTran fare sale that runs through Thursday for flights through November 14th.  Flights are $49, $99, or $139 dollars each way based on the length of the flight.  There are some restrictions and black-out dates.  Check out Deals We Like’s post for more details on the Southwest and AirTran sale.  For those of us who don’t have Southwest or AirTran as a convenient option, look for matches on these routes from other airlines.

They don’t always match these Southwest sales, but sometimes they do.  According to this Flyertalk thread, some matches are now being spotted by Delta, American, and more!  If you see a good fare, grab it quickly as this sale is going to be very short lived.  I know I am on the look-out for some matches from United on some Houston routes.  Let me know if you find any good matches from other carriers!

My husband and I had a point redemption trip scheduled on Swa in Aug to Vegas. I canceled that trip and rebooked it for about half the points. That gave me enough points to book another round trip flight to LAX in Nov, and I now have more points in my account than I started with! Its super ez to cancel trips purchased with points on the SWA web site. In fact the minute I canceled the old trips my account was credited.. The only problem I had was I couldn’t seem to find the $5 fee refund. But that’s ok I’m sure it will turn up somewhere. I love these sales!

Great job! I love how SW lets you rebook like that!

All airlines are not everyone matching. I have to fly ATL-RIC.
I can make the trip on airtran for more than 50% off the delta price.
    Delta won’t lower their price.

I was able to book AA with a fare that was nearly a match. SWA was $99 each way but AA was $110. It was worth going with AA because the schedule for them got me into LAX at 7am instead of about 11am with SWA. Also the return trip wasn’t even available for $99 on SWA, the lowest fare for that day was $150. AA still had $110 for the return. Thank you SWA for the deal, maybe I’ll fly with you next time.
