November 26
Once upon a time, Black Friday was the day to get great in-store deals, and Cyber Monday was the day to get great online deals. I honestly haven’t found that to really be the case anymore, as I think most of the best deals are available on Black Friday both in-store and online (or actually they now start on Thanksgiving Day). I no longer wait for Cyber Monday because for most of the things I buy, the deals aren’t any better than they were on Black Friday, and in some cases they aren’t as good. However, just because most of the things I buy aren’t available at a greater discount today doesn’t mean that is true across the board. I did find some deals that were of interest to me, so I want to pass them along. Also, please let me know what deals jump out at you and I will get them added to the list!
- Shoes.com is 10x via American Airlines e-Shopping and they have a sitewide 20% discount code using “CYBER”. This is a big deal to me as I am getting some Frye boots for Christmas that were excluded from the previous coupon codes, but they work with this 20% sitewide code. So, if you are shopping for a brand that is often excluded from the regular discount codes, then today is a good day to check again, and earn a bucket of miles in the process. I don’t normally focus on AA miles, but they were the highest payout I could find today for shoes.com, so I’m happy to add to my AAdvantage balance.
- Toys R Us has $25 off any purchase of $150 or more if you check-out using a MasterCard – use promo code MC25. This deal is limited and may be gone by 12PM Eastern. The best portal I know of for Toys R Us is 3x at Ultimate Rewards.
- SPG has some “Cyber Monday” discounts up to 35% off on hotel rooms when booked by 11/30 (the ad says up to 25% off, but my searches revealed up to 35% off). The rates are prepaid and non-refundable and are valid certain days through March 31st. I found some pretty decent deals on hotels, but of course the fact that it is prepaid and non-refundable makes it difficult for me to book too far out.
- Southwest has a very cool sale where nonstop travel on December 24th is $100 or less one-way. If you still haven’t booked any travel for the holidays, this is a good chance to at least get a good price on a one-way flight. You can then try to use miles or get a decent deal for a return flight after the holidays. These 12/24 flights must be booked today. You can also get up to 1,500 Rapid Reward points for joining Rapid Rewards!
I’m not blown away by any of these deals, but they are certainly of some interest. Let me know what deals you found and I will get them added to the list!

Booked three southwest flights from PHX-EWR for 5000 points each. If I don’t end up needing them I can refund my points with no fee. Gotta love Southwest for that. Can’t find any cheap return fares on the 27th to PHX but something may come up.
The main one I found is great for anyone who got in on that Buenos Aries fare yesterday at Luxury Link: $132 Vineyard package incl. 2 nights in a suite & vineyard tour today only. (Insert Shameless plug here) Link on my blog.
Some other nice toy deals and the Kindle Fire for $129 is sure tempting, but I agree after you’re hooked on the experiences, the stuff just doesn’t appeal as much.
Maybe it’s just me, but in previous years I’ve seen better deals out there. There is a good promotion on some good quality mid. range Samsonite Palma 3 piece luggage set from Buy.com. Here’s the link from slickdeal’s (Hopefully I’m not in violation of anything from posting the link?). The deal should it’s dead but just confirmed it’s still alive. Never going to beet the $99.00 price. http://slickdeals.net/permadeal/84326/buy.com-samsonite-palma-3-piece-luggage-set?#comments
Thanks for the note about the shoes.com code working for Frye. I had given up trying promo codes for Frye – this is awesome for my Christmas present
Anita, yay! I hoped it might help someone who loves their boots as much as I do.
