Thanks to a reader who emailed me this morning with some info regarding a new United promotion where you can earn up to 15,000 bonus miles for making hotel point transfers into the United MileagePlus program. At first the promotion sounded pretty interesting (especially for those who had been building hotel point balances in anticipation of the Grand Slam), but….the transfer rates are so miserable that even with up to… Read the Rest.

My parents (Little C’s grandparents) are about to embark on a two week road trip adventure through Yosemite, Sequoia National Forest, the Pacific Coast, and Las Vegas. It was another one of their “Bucket List” trips. Planning for this trip started at least a year ago, and I posted some about booking their flights on points here. Now that we are closer to their departure date, I asked my dad… Read the Rest.

I posted last night about the upcoming Choice Privileges points sale via the Daily Getaway Deals and some ways to use those points that would result in some great value. While I still think that some of those alternate uses such as a Grand Slam hit and points toward a Southwest Companion Pass are fantastic ways to use some of the points, I wanted to go back and cover some… Read the Rest.

Tomorrow (Thursday), Day 19 of the Daily Getaways brings us Choice Privileges points. These packages are promoted as two or three nights in various types of Choice hotels, but what really matters is the number of points that come with the package. You can redeem those points however you wish once they are deposited in your account. The points range from 32,000 to 40,000 per package. My parents frequent hotels… Read the Rest.

After being away from work for most of last week for the OneWorld MegaDO, today I continued my plummet back to reality with the realization that I had several new work trips to book. These are trips that are 100% devoid of any fun, and are to cities that are 100% devoid of any Hyatt or Starwood hotels. Doesn’t my day job understand that if they are going to send… Read the Rest.

Update: While this is reported to be working, I am concerned from the report in the comments from Noob Traveler that his packet from SW said that credit card sign-up bonuses don’t count toward Companion Pass. If that is the case, then perhaps the time for this awesome deal has ended (or will be in the very near future). I would say proceed with caution. Update #2: False alarm with… Read the Rest.

Choice Hotels was recently added as an American Express transfer partner. Presumably to get people interested in transferring their Amex Membership Rewards points to the Choice Program, they are offering a 50% transfer bonus through November 6th. With the 50% bonus, 1,000 Membership Reward points becomes 1,500 Choice Hotel points. It’s still not the best deal ever since you can routinely buy 1,000 Choice points directly from Choice for only… Read the Rest.

My parents happen to love the Choice Hotels brand (Comfort Inn, Comfort Suites, Clarion, etc..). And by love, I mean they often love the price. Choice Hotels also happens to have locations in the sort of “less traveled” destinations that my parents frequent. Rarely is there a Starwood or Hyatt Hotel along the side of the road on their road trips, but there is often a Choice hotel option. So,… Read the Rest.
