I love connecting with others in person at fun frequent flyer events, so in case you feel the same, here is some info on various events that are coming up soon! Star MegaDo 5: I wrote about this event here, but basically it is a chartered Air Canada flight from Toronto to Tuscon to San Francisco. Along the way there will be plenty of social events, an AMARC inside tour, a… Read the Rest.
Last weekend I conducted a session with Ed from Pizza in Motion on various Family Travel issues at the Frequent Traveler University. Some of those issues we covered had to do with earning and redeeming points/miles for multiple people, some were related to tips to get rooms large enough for a family, and some were related to the logistics of traveling with small children (gear, lap infant tickets, where to… Read the Rest.
I want to share a few quick updates about some things in the miles and points world…. This site and all of BoardingArea will be moving to a fancier server starting tonight. My normal morning post will go out late tonight, so there will still be some new content for anyone who would like to visit tomorrow morning while drinking their requisite cup of coffee, but the ability to comment… Read the Rest.
Other than the (almost) free travel, one of my favorite perks of the miles and points world is getting to connect with others who share this same hobby. A great way to do that in-person is at many of the frequent flyer events. There are Mega Dos (big organized and sponsored events), Mini Dos (small and informal events), and in-person miles and points seminars. If you want to come to… Read the Rest.
As I posted earlier this week, the Frequent Traveler University (basically a miles and points conference) is headed to the Washington DC area in April 2013. Now the tickets are on sale and a (very) rough schedule has been posted. Tickets are $100 and rooms are available at the conference hotel, the Hilton McLean Tyson’s Corner for a group rate of $89 per night. That Hilton is reported to be… Read the Rest.
I am excited to share that some details regarding the April 2013 Frequent Traveler University have been announced. Last April this event was held in Newark, there is one coming up in LA in December, and in April 2013 the event will head to the Washington DC area. Typically these events span from Friday evening until Sunday afternoon, and include a variety of different speakers from the miles and points… Read the Rest.
New dates for the Frequent Traveler University seminar have been announced on Milepoint. Essentially they have moved the dates up by one week to November 30th – December 2nd. I think that is great to avoid some of the hustle and bustle that happens as you get into December, but I am bummed that it means I am no longer able to participate this go ’round as I will be… Read the Rest.
I learned a few lessons today in the miles and points world that I wanted to share so you can avoid the mistakes I made. I guess in truth they weren’t really lessons learned so much as just good reminders for things I already knew. Also, I will announce the winner of the $100 United credit! 1. If you think you might want extremely inexpensive airport lounge access via the… Read the Rest.
The Grand Finale of the FTU was the “Credit Card Tournament of Champions”. Check out this post for more details, but basically 12 cards went head to head in groups of two, and then the winners of those six debates went on to the final round. A “Best Credit Card in the Whole Galaxy” was then selected from the finalists. Gary Leff moderated the event and the line-ups was: United… Read the Rest.
