If you regularly read this blog you know that I love the Olympics, and that myself and a few other friends have plans to head to the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi, Russia. These games are now just 9 months away in February 2014. So far we have secured event tickets and flights in business class using miles, but the big piece of the pie that is still missing is… Read the Rest.

As promised, I want to continue to share my plans and tips regarding getting to the 2014 Olympics in Sochi, Russia. Individual event tickets went on sale in February, and I was able to lock in some events I am pretty excited about. Once upon a time I had a hotel reserved on points, but that got canceled due to the “International Olympic Committee” regulations, or something like that. I… Read the Rest.

Just a quick reminder that individual event tickets to the 2014 Winter Olympics in Russia are now on sale. I logged on exactly at Noon Eastern when they went on sale and had very good success in getting some events I wanted. Thankfully, once you added tickets to your cart they were safe there for 45 minutes. I first added the very popular events like ice skating, and then added… Read the Rest.

If you have read this blog for a while you know that I love the Olympics. I have been lucky enough to attend the Summer Games twice – Atlanta in 1996 and London in 2012, but have now set my sights on attending the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi. We are now just a year away from the Opening Ceremony, so it is time to shift from a theoretical trip… Read the Rest.

I have posted several times about how much I enjoyed going to the Summer 2012 Olympics in London, and how I am starting to plan to go to Sochi, Russia in 2014 for the Winter Olympics. Of course, there are no guarantees I will be able to attend, but I am certainly going to try. I made award reservations at some Club Carlson hotels in Sochi, and had the experience… Read the Rest.

As soon as we got back from the 2012 Summer Olympics, I started planning a trip to the 2014 Winter Olympics that will be held in Sochi, Russia. The Olympics really are an amazing experience that brings folks from all over the world together, and I would love to be able to go to Russia and see figure skating, snowboarding, etc in about a year and a half. One of… Read the Rest.

In early August, my husband and I did something that we had never before done – we took our first international business class trip as we headed to the London Olympics. I know that is “old hat” for some in the miles and points world, but for us it was a new and exciting experience. For once, we were not only looking forward to our trip, but we were also… Read the Rest.

While in London for the Olympics, I paid attention to some money saving tips that would be applicable not just for trips during the Olympics, but for trips once the Olympics were over. My husband and I are actually returning early next year in an Envoy Suite using the US Airways off-peak awards for just 55,000 miles each (we got a 5K discount for having the US Airways card), so… Read the Rest.

A couple months ago when I got the “Olympics Bug”, the real catalyst was wanting to see a gymnastics event. I grew up obsessed with Olympic gymnastics, and the prospect of being able to see an event in person became too strong a pull to resist. I was fortunate enough to be able to purchase a gymnastics ticket from the official ticket source for the USA at face value (plus… Read the Rest.

Yesterday we landed in London (more on that awesome flight later), and after catching a short nap and checking out some sights, we headed for dinner at the Chase Visa Lounge. The Lounge is located at 116 Pall Mall in London’s West End in an absolutely beautiful building. What that location essentially means is that it is easy to get to, and is within walking distance to lots of other… Read the Rest.
