A couple of weeks ago I shared the news that US Airways was again offering a popular promo that offers a 50% bonus when transferring hotel points in from select hotel partners, including Wyndham Rewards. Since the transfer ratio from Wyndham Rewards is actually pretty good with the bonus, I transferred some of my own points both because it was a good deal, and to test out a couple of… Read the Rest.
I got pretty upset with the Wyndham Rewards program when they dramatically changed the number of points required as some New York City properties a while back without any notice. The number of points required jumped from 16,000 to as much as 45,000 points per night overnight. They then did back it down to 35,000 per night, but that is still more than a 2x increase without notice. To their… Read the Rest.
On our recent family trip to New York City, I used some of my Wyndham Rewards points to cover a two night stay for my parents at the Wingate by Wyndham Manhattan Midtown Hotel. I have found that using points to bring along grandparents is a fantastic use of points. Not only do they get to join in the fun of the trip, but you can usually negotiate a trade… Read the Rest.
Since hotel devaluations have been an unfortunate hot and consistent topic over the last week or so, I wanted to share a tiny piece of good news. One of the most out-of-this-world devaluations was what Wyndham Rewards did to some of their NYC properties. In fact one of the properties my parents just stayed at during our recent family trip to NYC, (review to be posted on Sunday) The Wingate… Read the Rest.
Update: Per this Flyertalk post, Wyndham has now dropped the Wingate by Wyndham down 10,000 points to 35,000 points per night. That is still a huge increase, but still better than 45K and they did say they would do a better job of communicating in the future. This devaluation of some redemption options can be described no other way than epic meltdown. This is why people say that points are… Read the Rest.
I previously posted on some ways to make good use of hotel points that were stock-piled in anticipation of the 2012 US Airways Grand Slam that never materialized. Some of us earned and purchased points in hotel programs that we don’t normally utilize, so instead of having those points potentially go to waste, I want to help you maximize those points as much as possible. To catch up on some… Read the Rest.
Thanks to a reader who emailed me this morning with some info regarding a new United promotion where you can earn up to 15,000 bonus miles for making hotel point transfers into the United MileagePlus program. At first the promotion sounded pretty interesting (especially for those who had been building hotel point balances in anticipation of the Grand Slam), but….the transfer rates are so miserable that even with up to… Read the Rest.
So assuming you were lucky enough to purchase some Wyndham Rewards points from the Daily Getaway deals today, you will soon have many more Wyndham Rewards points in your account (I can’t remember exactly how long it took last year for the points to post, but it wasn’t too long). I’m sure many of you already know exactly what you plan to do with your new points, but not everyone… Read the Rest.
My husband and I were each able to score one package in the pre-sale for Wyndham Points at Noon Eastern. He got the 48,000 points package and I got the 32,000 point package. I’m getting some emails and comments asking for tips for success for the public 1PM Eastern sale, so I’ll share mine, and please feel free to chime in with others in the comments section so as many… Read the Rest.
We spent this evening at the ER with our a very sick toddler, so apologies for not going as in depth on this post as I had originally planned. We are back home now with medicine thankfully working, but it was a more eventful Sunday evening that we had planned. That said, Monday is a big day for the Daily Getaway deals. There have been some good deals in the… Read the Rest.
