24 Hours Only: 40% Off, 2500 Bonus Points, and Double Stay Credit with Hilton

Today is the day to book your upcoming hotel stays with Hilton.  Starting at 11am, bookings made under their “Any Weekend, Anywhere” rate will be eligible for discounts of up to 40% along with 2500 bonus points and double stay credit toward elite qualification.

Hilton is after my own heart here, with cash savings, bonus points, and a faster path to elite status.  However, they aren’t making it easy for you.

1. First, you’ll need to register for the promotion on Facebook between 11am EST today and 10:59am tomorrow.
2. Next, you’ll need to make your reservations during the same timeframe.  Although reservations must be booked by 10:59am tomorrow, your stay can be for anytime through December 31, 2013.  Members will receive 2500 bonus points per stay, up to a maximum of 10,000 points (four stays).
3. Afterward, you need to return to the Facebook promo page and enter your confirmation number and Facebook number.  If you forget this step, you won’t earn your bonus points.

Additionally, all qualifying stays must be booked in the “Any Weekend, Anywhere” rate, which will automatically provide double stay credit toward status.  Savings vary by region, and not all hotels are participating, some include black-out dates, and the savings are up to 40% off.

Despite the name of the sale, some hotels have discounts every day of the week, while others only provide savings for check-in Thursday-Sunday.  Many have 2-night minimum stays, and still others hold a 2-night maximum if you check in on a Sunday night.

That’s not the only trouble with the “Any Weekend, Anywhere” rate.  It’s also an advance purchase rate, requiring you to book 7+ days in advance, prepay in full, and forfeit the entire payment if you end up needing to cancel the booking.

If your plans are confirmed and will not change, this is a good example of when prepaying a hotel stay can share great incentive, especially at hotels offering 40% off (the 15% discount in the USA is a little less exciting).  You’ll also be able to combine this with the Double Your HHonors promotion if your stay is this winter.  However, if you’re not 100% set on your plans and need the flexibility to change or cancel (or if you can’t keep the terms of the promotion straight!), I’d stay away from this one.

Remember to book between 11am today and 11am tomorrow to earn 2500 bonus points per booking.  You’ll have until January 31 to take advantage of the other parts of the sale for discounts and double stay credit.
