JD Powers 2008 Airport Satisfaction Survey

Interesting article and corresponding results about airport satisfaction. It basically speaks for itself, although I can’t really say I agree with the results. Actually, some of them almost seem the wrong way around to me.

  1. Woah, I totally agree. Philadelphia gets a 5, but Seattle and Denver each only manage to earn a 2? Huh? Same goes for Portland. And Midlway was the highest in the medium category? I haven’t been there recently, but I wasn’t impressed and you sure don’t hear much good about it. And Dulles? Seriously?

Without seeing detailed sample breakdowns it’s hard to know who they were surveying and when. But it seems suspicious that airports (a) largely served by carriers like Southwest and (b) largely in tourist destinations (e.g., Vegas, Orlando) rated highly.

  2. I generally ignore (=don’t trust) any JD Powers survey results. I thought I read somewhere that their business model is to basically sell those little trophies.
