Per Frugal Travel Guy, it seems like travelers checks can once again be purchased fee free, although there’s a limit of $1,000 per 30 days vs. the previous limit of $1,000 per week. I guess that’s good news. That’s 12,000 free miles/points per year.

Thanks. I think 1000 points aren’t worth the hassle of traveling 30 miles (roundtrip) to the nearest Amex office and spending about an hour on getting the checks and depositing them.
