While I had seen Air New Zealand’s brilliant “nothing to hide” commercials, I hadn’t seen their new “bare essentials” safety video. Check it out:

I’m not sure whether this is a good way to get people to pay attention to the safety video, or whether it’s just a bit too distracting….

I really liked it! My only question is, do 737-300′s typically have video screens to play this back on? I thought only the 7,8 and 900 had them.

I don’t find it distracting at all… It’s informative and entertaining.

Is this animated? It really looks like it is to me and I will say if it was animated they could have done a better job with the flight attendants, particularly the first girl. Otherwise, they should hire Deltalina to fill in since she knows the 737 safety procedures.

@bschaff1- No, this isn’t animated. In fact Air NZ also made a behind-the-scenes video that shows the actors being painted for the commercial and the safety video. You can see the video here- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GnhVcD74i14&feature=response_watch

The whole campaign is simply brilliant. I love how the chief executive shows up as one of the baggage handlers in the commercial.

    Ben,

Check out SAA’s (not a great quality). I really enjoyed it

My favorite part is at 2:20 when the guy pushes the seat in front of him as hard as he can.

It’s real – real people in body paint :D

It’s been an excellent idea, showing staff getting involved, and even the madeyed CEO doing some real work for once.

A bit of creative thinking (ala Deltalina) never hurts – especially with something as critical as the safety video that gets people to pay attention – even if a bit distracted is not a bad thing .

In fact, if you dig around – there have been some good safety presentations recently (and yes lucky.. I’m excluding the Matrix style ones they have on UA… They’d be better play RobD’s Clubbed to Death over the demo rather than Rhapsody in Blue)

I’ll blog about it later (and save the article on Pam Ann’s Winglets for another day ;) )

OMG! I think I’ve flown with the brunette FA, SYD-AKL in C cabin last year or the year before.

It’s amazing how the artists can create depth out of 2 dimensions (well, for the brunette, she’s already got some nice 3 dimensions). That scarf looks so real!

I thought the blonde gal was absolutely hot! If you watch the blooper video you’ll hear her say she’s 40. Pretty darn aw-sum I’d say.
