Certainly it’s not for everyone, though I couldn’t help but share this one.
Qantas has two first class award seats on the Airbus 380 from Los Angeles to Sydney for December 31. While I won’t be claiming those seats, for anyone that doesn’t have plans I’d say there’s no better way to ring in the New Year (short of actually being in Sydney, perhaps).
Anyone want to claim them? It’s only 72,500 American miles per person.

Cool!
Besides that you don’t actually have a new years day, you go from Dec 31-Jan 2

I wonder if there’s a party on the plane. Given the late departure, it’ll turn midnight on Jan 1 in the local time zone somewhere between LAX and the IDT.

I wonder why is it only 72,500?

@ John — That’s the one way cost for first class through AAdvantage.

With the right person (I see that two seats are available), that could be a lot of fun. Not to mention you get to arrive into Sydney and have it be summer! Awesome.

I have been trying to get an award on QF in F with AS miles, but that is a bit challenging since AS does not allow one way awards on partners and QF rarely releases P space both ways, starting from LAX, within a week of each other on a short notice [less than 1-2 months]…
One day… One day… I shall prevail

A friend of mine did this on the 24th of December. He gives up Christmas Day, but got qf f! (a present unto itself!)
