A few days ago I posted that there were a few days left to redeem 2012 Hyatt Diamond confirmed suite upgrades, so it’s probably worth a reminder that the 2013 suite upgrades have now been deposited into the accounts of those that qualified for Diamond status for this year.

When you’re logged into your Gold Passport account click on “My Awards,” and you should see them listed under “Suite Upgrade Award.”

As a reminder they need to be redeemed by February 28, 2014, though can be redeemed for stays after that date. Each can confirm an upgrade of up to seven nights on an eligible, paid rate. The only properties at which these can’t be redeemed are the Hyatt Key West Resort and Spa, Hyatt Regency Kyoto, Hyatt Regency Paris-Madeleine, Hyatt Regency Tulsa, Hyatt Regency Wichita, Hyatt Santa Barbara, Park Hyatt Beaver Creek Resort and Spa, Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa, Park Hyatt Sydney, Hyatt House properties, Hyatt Place properties and Hyatt Residence Club resorts.

Suite upgrades typically confirm into the standard entry level suite. Sometimes this is a junior suite, while at other properties it’s a massive suite (like my stay at the Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur last week, where I was confirmed into an executive suite).

    I have virtually the same photo. It seems you were in the same suite one level above mine, at the same time. Wish I had the view of the Petronas Towers-I was a little disappointed about that.

    And at the opposite end, you can redeem at HR Gainey Ranch and get a somewhat bigger room. Just a room.

    I know I’m in the minority, but I’d like to see these redeemable at the Hyatt House to move from a 1BR to a 2BR. Seems like minimal cost to Hyatt, and if you have a family, it does make a difference.

    That’s good news for me but bad news for me! I am officially Hyatt Platinum.. Boo! It was too expensive to pursue 25 stays. I did 12 nights in 60 day challenge which was more feasible.

    Any clue why Wichita is excluded? I’m heading there in June and a little miffed I can’t get an upgrade. Their Bluestern suite doesn’t look much different from standard suites at other properties, but maybe they only have one.

    @ Scottrick — I believe they only have one, if they have any at all. Not pulling the Bluestern suite up when making a dummy booking on any date…

    @hobo13,

    I was just at HR Gainey Ranch although I’m not a Diamond (just a Plat) they said they gave me an upgraded room. While the room was nice it seemed like a standard room. I couldn’t find anything upgraded about it (size, view, etc.).

    I enjoyed visiting the hotel when I lived nearby and as a guest it is fine but not worth what they try to charge for it, especially the $400-500 a night in high season.

    That’s a Grand Suite I believe, stayed in 2 of those already in the past few months. It’s massive, but still it’s the entry level suite at the GH KL.

    Stayed at the Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur last month using a Diamond Suite Upgrade Certificate. I was originally assigned Grand Suite 3321 which was not facing the Petronas Twin Towers. After contacting the font desk, I was able to move to Grand Suite 3109 facing the towers. Pics and video at http://travel.bart.la/2013/02/25/grand-suite-at-grand-hyatt-kuala-lumpur/

    Hi Lucky, I have a question about the Chase Hyatt annual award night. Can I book the night before the expiration date for a later stay? Thanks.

    @ David — To the best of my knowledge the free nights have to be used for a stay by the expiration date.
